A few years ago Ridgid got a bad rep for the battery packs in their tools. Back then they were using Chinese cells. Of course that led to problems. I have opened a lot of the Ridgid battery packs from the recycle bins, and yes the early ones had the Chinese cells. I posted about it here.
I believe that in order to gain back the trust of those in the Trades they had to go an extra step and offer “Lifetime” guarantees going forward.
