How do you carry all the "edc" stuff that you carry?

That furthers my point about Norway vs the USA. With an essentially homogeneous population who likely have the same core beliefs (coming from a shared core heritage, language, probably religion, etc.), even “deviants” don’t deviate that far from the norm. You might become an outcast for just saying you’re not a fan of lutefisk.

Here, you have busybodies trying to dictate what you can put into your own body, with whom you can “partner” with, even what’s legal/illegal in the bedroom (how anyone would find out and rat you out to The Law is beyond me, but the laws are on the books).

“Live and let live” is NOT on their radar. And what becomes verboten is codified into law with corresponding criminal punishments including jailtime.

I have less to fear from a Shkreli or Milliken than I do from The Karen next door.

Anyone use MOLLE systems for scalability?

I found LB’s comment to be comical with the attribution of socialist to someone who would carry out such an unsocial act. The economic system of socialism can be viewed as (legal) theft of income, property, etc., not by an individual, but by the government. That’s a bias we have in the US and other similar economic systems. Like LB said, it just wouldn’t work here.

Bad actors? Do you mean US constitutional law, due-process convicted individuals? Or more like a social credit system?
The best quality of life is attained through “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. Socialism is about limits on individual freedom. Individual freedom is a great foundation for everyone.

Some of my close friends who condemn the ‘evil corporation’ really don’t understand who those entities are. They are what fuels the US economy. Government funding comes from where?

income taxes,
sales taxes,
property taxes

The less these take from our income, the more freedom we have.

Excessive government spending causes inflation that can effectively devalue a currency (ie. Mexico) and thus, an individual’s wealth… another form of theft but that’s a different discussion.

Here are some stats: https://www.naics.com/business-lists/counts-by-company-size/
the majority of corporations are small, including farmers, plumbers, engineering firms, cleaning services, home health professionals, etc.

Thank you SB for the etymolgical information on the word anti-social.

Yep, love the system but things get dangly if you overdo it. For me it’s more of a modularity rather than scalability thing.

I seem to trend towards making a Kydex sheath for the most consistently carried EDC items, relying also on clips (ie:belt clip, pocket clip) Making these Kydex items myself allows me to comfortably carry in even the thinnest cotton shorts while lounging around reading or likewise doing whatever chores need tending.

Since my hip surgery in April I’ve worn simpler more comfortable clothes, lost a bunch of cargo pockets! So my EDC load has streamlined. The custom made Texas Poker is still on it’s Ti curb chain of course but my own make quad is seldom carried lately. Having made my own fixed blades in the past year I do manage two blades quite often (3?), now a smaller folder for the little things and a 5.4” fixed blade for everything else.

While it is very normal that I change what my carry is prior to leaving the house, once in a while I forget the obvious… billfold has been left behind more than once! (That 6” scar on my rear/hip has it’s priorities after all, the feeling of a wad of barbed wire just under the surface prevails!)

Found a pristine 5D that I procured an Ape Case for and carry that cross shoulder on occasion, camera inside equipped with the excellent general purpose 24-105 f/4 IS lens.

With 624 miles logged, to date, on my newest bits of Titanium hopefully “normal” is not so far away…whatever normal is anymore.

For me, the bag’s a bit of a TARDIS in itself, and I keep that smaller pouch inside, but can always pop it out and attach it to the side if I need more room.

Plus, my light-in-holster is on the outside so I don’t have to grubble around in any pockets, etc.

But I like having the option to attach, say, a water-bottle holder for either a bottle or for a folding umbrella ('though I usually stick it through the laces on the openy-flap if I have to take one).

Was wondering if anyone else had any particular “strategy” as far as using the system.

That’s nifty. My oh !@#$ kit and field tool bag aren’t MOLLE compatible so they stay inside the main luggage.

My main use case is easy transfer when switching bags, I have a Pentagon EPOS backpack, a Helikon Foxtrot mk2 for lightweight hiking plus a Helikon bushcraft satchel (long term loaned to friend) and through the use of 3D printed MOLLE quick release couplings I’m able to transfer my med kit and other appropriate modules as needed. Most MOLLE modules can also be belt-worn which is handy when departing the main bag for a short side quest.

Oh and foldable ammo dump pouches can be real lifesavers and every unused MOLLE panel should have one.

That’s awesome Dale!

Me, too but I use a medium sized backpack. The modularity is what great and the not-so-tactical look is preferred. Maybe I’ll rig up the molle system when on outdoor adventures.

the tacticool look puts me off as well

too bad tacticool seems to correlate with practicool

Yeah, there’s a reason right-wing americans love to use the UK to criticise things like universal healthcare: Because it’s one of the worst implementations around. I absolutely despise the NHS, made my life miserable more than once with years-long waiting lists, but Canada is literally right next to the US and has some of the best healthcare in the world, for free…

One of the best justifications I saw, is of the “hiding in plain sight” type of adaptability.

Go Dev!

Hmmm, completely OT, but that is the drift. I have a dear friend in Saskatchewan. She waited for 8 months for an MRI on her shoulder. Now waiting for another 6 to 8 months for surgery. Unless she visits an ER, she can’t even get in to see a doctor for weeks.
I don’t love the medical system in the US, but from this person and a dozen or so others that I am in contact with in CA, theirs is abysmal by comparison. The UK is even worse.

These are the 2, at least what I could find on amazon:

The little one is good for a phone, your papieren, a pen, maybe notepad, knoife, lighter, etc. Those are the “essentials” to take-with.

The slingbag looks small but could probably fit a bowling-ball if you were so inclined.

But need more room, take out the pouch and just attach it to the side. Other side has my light+holster for easy access.

The slingbag has a bunch of pockets, and a nicety I didn’t expect is a pass-through from inside up the strap, so you could stick in a scanner, walkie-talkie, yardstick, whatever, and it’ll just poke through the top.

Think I started collecting these 2 as well as other pouches on GB or AX or wherever. Of course, pricier on amazon, but still pretty reasonable. Other pouches, if I see a good deal, I’ll just grab some, even if I don’t have a fixed purpose for them yet.

A bunch of the plain rectangular ones, I found could fit a meter+leads, my radar-detector + power-cord, tire-repair kit, sockets/bits, (big) powerbank + cables, etc. Snug fit, might have to rearrange things and tetris them in to get everything to fit, vs just dropping them in, but still doable.

And most of 'em are molleable!

I used to carry a fullsize Jansport, a/k/a my parachute.

I found that the bigger the bag, the more shiite I’d stuff into it, Just In Case.

Started asking myself why carry a bag big enough that you could stuff a small child into it, especially if you’d never have cause to use one.

So I downsized quite a bit.

Naw, “tacticool” would be that blue “urban camo” pattern. Or any camo pattern.

Like I’d just “blend in” carrying it, when walking down the street or taking a bus somewhere…

I like Basic Black. Goes with everything. I’d get brown/tan/sand/desert/whatever just for a change of pace, or if I’m wearing my duster or something.

Yeh, I know someone who lives in Oshawa, and his grexes are all along the lines of how you’re essentially assigned a doctor based on your geographic area. His daughter’s got medical issues, the doctor he’s been assigned to is incompetent and arrogant, and will literally “fire the patient” if you dare speak up, and then you got no medical care at all.

I was like… “whoa”.

I’m also finding myself in a place of gear maximalism. Wowing one’s peers by effortlessly handling an improbable unexpected situation is a cool party trick but the weight does take a toll on the ole back. The way I’ve decided to handle it is having meticulously curated kits that get checked for items that haven’t been used in a while. The kits form compact modules each in its pouch or container and before I go somewhere, I’ll pick modules based on expectations for the trip and then a suitable bag to hold them.

yuck

I’m big time into autumn colours and I’ve picked coyote when starting my molle journey. It’s pretty to me but it does give off a bit of a militaristicky vibe. I’m living for Helikon-tex’s earth brown + clay colour scheme but there ain’t that much stuff available like that. It does go together fine with coyote though

I spent around 8 months over the period of 6 years at one of our vendors with offices in Toronto. Honestly, no one ever said anything positive about their health care. Quite the opposite. Many paid for private insurance so they could come to the US for care.
Not entirely sure where the perception comes from that they have it good there as far as health care goes.
I could start with horror stories about the UK… but will refrain for now.

Again, sorry to allow myself to be dragged OT, but I see certain things that just run so far from my personal knowledge that it tweaks me a bit.
