How do you stop buying flashlights and other related stuff

At least 80% are ones you never use and half you don't even like ..sell them on ebay or craigslist or wts BLF ..If you had the guts enough to buy them lets see if you have the courage to unload a few .. Then you can justify buying whatever you want .. you just have to sell the ones you don't like .. you're allowed to keep like 40 ..that's plenty ..How about this ..one for every year of your life ..I started getting tough on my lights.. they have been coralled and rated and evaluated realisticly .. all the lights I shrug over or avoid ..means I really couldn't care if I have them or not .Do I use them ,do I opt for something else instead ?Do I really like that one ?.If not it's off to the auction block it goes ...Long and short at the end of the day .."it's just a flashlight ".Give away your favorite one . That's always a good start.

I don't understand this thread.. I don't have a problem with flashlight.. I'm not addicted to them.. I can stop when i want.. It's all under control..

"WHAT? A NEW DEAL ON MANAFONT!!? WHERE IS MY CREDIT CARD!!!"

However i will help who can't stop buying flashlight.. GIFT ALL your flashlight to ME!! Maybe you will be sad for some days but imagine how happy i am! I will send a smiling photo for every flashlight! LOL!

Ok ok.. just kidding..

How about 1 each for years 1-20, 2 each for years 21-40, 3 each for years 41-60 and so on. At some point after 80 I may start 'thinning the herd' by gifting a few.

How about 1 for year one ...2 for year 2 ...3 for year 3 ...4 for year 4 .......i think you get where I'm going with this ..

Probably best to hold yourself accountable to someone. If you have a wife, a best friend, or whatever, I'd imagine he or she's there for you and you can trust him or her enough to sit down and set some rules if you really intend to make a change. Good things will likely come out of it too. Even if you don't have a problem, but would still like to cut down on spending, sometimes we just need a little help. My cousin used to ask me before buying certain things. In fact, he still does, but not for the same reasons. He respected my opinion, and I respected his.

Ok , so whats the answer ?

Just spent more money , again . Drivers and more drivers , a silly XM-L U2 [ maybe not that silly - ill have to wait and see ] emitter on a 16mm Base

Buck boost Driver to fix a UniqueFire AA-S1 [ Osram ] .. DX supplied and stuffed from the factory , looks like a 4year old assembled it [ pill ] and used a hammer on it .

So I did want a multimode Osram that can run AA-14500 [ $5 ] 5 Drivers for XM-L $21 , U2 XM-L $13 , some 5mm LED's N Stuff all up $5 , and I wanted to save money for a while ?????.

So please , whats the answer ? Damn $44 in 10 minutes , I could have got a darn nice Flashlight for that ...

Financially Challenged Flashaholic .

Lol Old, that's the power of "cheap from China". Everything is cheap, so we buy everything, then we realize we've just been robbed. I think if we really wan't to stop, we have to put our foot down. There's always going to be the next new, best thing. I used to spend a lot on racquets. Yonex, Wilson and the like put stuff out every year, selling them for over $200. Eventually I realized that it doesn't really matter if I have the latest racquets. I don't need to buy a new one every year. Also, when new models come out, the old ones sell for 1/4 the price. I don't mind being a year behind for 75% less out of my pocket.

Yup, so I guess it's a mixture of rationality and self-control. Maybe I shouldn't tell anyone I spent almost $100 on DX yesterday =O

lol, everyone has their own hobbies and must have something they like to buy and collect. Maybe your wife also usually likes buying clothing, cosmetics or something else.

That's how I started buying from China. My previous hobby (now a bit idle) was Car Detailing and I had gotten used to paying £15 shippings, and £20-30 to waxes. These flaslights with $10-15 prices and no shipping fees attract one easily. So I started buying every neat piece one by one, then clibed up to $80-100 ones (settling arround $40 lights now) and as far as I could count there were 42 lights at home last night. I tried to calculate how much I could have paid to these lights and those drivers and emitters sitting in the box, and the total was $2500 at least. I appear to pay $500 each month for the last five months.

I guess I could have bought 5-6 top of the line lights at first and stop.

Yeah, the trick is will you stop? Hehe, for $2500, I could probably add a good 100hp to my car. I'm starting to get into detailing, but it's so much work.

Looks like I can still get a couple more?

But then the attraction of a $10 will still spark the curiosity of the true flashaholic (with a budget or curious mind, or both).

I found my piece of mind to buy anything i want and keep those i like. The rest i dislike is simpli a matter to waving it around untill someone says: I want it! Then i check the price paid and the usd/eur excahnage rate at that time. Check if i reworek it any way and add the miserable expenses together.

I found a package on the doorstep tonight. Finally my xml from dx? Maybe my last Manafont order. Could be from KD too. Hmm seems a little large. Has my wife's name on it.... What - you can buy shoes online.....payback has just started.

There appears to be no way of stopping but I have slowed a little.

Blah! I was at 0 expenses 10 days ago truly commited to skip this month with pruchases and now im already at 100€ mark...

Eeek!

It worked for about a week but I think I needed a repeat prescription. BTW told my wife its stainless lol... If only she knew

lol spending war. Problem is you're both gonna lose (pun intended).

force youself to dig out you other hobbies, avid flashlighter seems to be a little quiz. why not turn to sports at your spare time?

I haven't bought anything today.lol. I must resist!

Be strong.
