Interest check: custom 7070 Emisar D4Sv2 PCBs; also available are 5050 and B35AM boards (and as modded lights)

Update 2025-03-01: Both MCPCBs still available. PM if interested in ordering boards or commissioning a modded light.

New quad-7070 board under development, need to gauge interest before getting it produced

Update 2023-12-08:
XHP50.3 works well on throwy optic.

Peak performance figures (some tested, some estimates)

  • W5050SQ3 (6500/3000k mix): 2800lm, 100kcd, 4000k
  • XHP50.3HI (6500k, 5700k): 14,000lm, 50kcd
  • B35AM 6500k r9080: 2500lm, 12kcd
  • SFT40 (6500k, 5000k r70): 8000lm, 90kcd
  • SFT40 (3000k r9080): 4000lm, 50kcd

XHP50.3HI and SFT40 require a 21700 (or a very good 26650) for high performance.

Willing to try any emitter that fits, domes might be an issue though.

Also selling the MCPCBs, can ship worldwide

Update 2023-11-10: Got the boards, modded a few lights with them. Great success. PM me if interested.

Original post:

Might be having made some pcbs for a D4Sv2 that can use 5050 LEDs, for a higher-lumen turbo. Want to see if there is interest in it, because getting them made in copper is expensive.

Mostly meant for SFT40 but might also work with XM-L2 and SST40, maybe XHP50.3HI (3v version) but I’m not sure if it’ll work with the Angie optic. Almost definitely won’t fit an aux board, so it will probably work best with an RGB button.

10 Thanks

I’d love one with SFT40s, but if available from Hank directly - I don’t have the skills to switch the internals myself :frowning: (or a D4SV2 donor for that matter)

The sft40 is boring to me now.
For one, its just too good. Like playing a video game with cheat codes. And partly cuz there no warmer or higher CRI versions.

I still keep buying sft40 lights though

It would also work with XM-L2, I’ve read that the newer flip-chip version has a very high current-ceiling and is not too difficult to dedome (for a significantly higher intensity). Sadly only goes to 80cri above 4000k and 90cri below that, but it seems promising.

Any ballpark idea on cost? USD $10? $20?

You can make your own optic with four single TIRs, a little sanding, and some CA glue.

Don’t know what single TIRs would be suitable, the Angie optic is approximately 1.4mm per LED.

Not sure about the cost either, but probably less than $10 per PCB without the LEDs, somewhere similar to what Hank charges for loose PCBs. Not too sure about the shipping though, as I am in Peru instead of the US, unless someone volunteers to receive them in the states and ship them out.

I mean you can make a quad optic for 5050 footprint LEDs by gluing together four single, modified, 5050 TIRs.

I don’t have a D4SV2 (yet) but I’d be interested in this idea for other lights. Thanks.

The D4S optic would work fine for most 5050 leds, it is just the larger-die of the XHP50.3HI that might not focus properly using the Angie-S. Probably would be fine with an Angie-M, it is what was used in the B35AM version of the D4Sv2, but it would lose throw.

I’d be in for a couple.

D4S MCPCB is 33mm, JLC copper DTP 10x cost 49$ (min price), 50x : 67$, 100x : 85$, 200x : 120$.

Edit : Of course it depends if a part of the price is for designing the PCB, which would be fair anyway.

Hmm…an sft70 would fit the optic… I would totally buy an sft70 D4S.

Can’t be that hard right? Almost 7vf and 7amps maxed out. Times 4 emitters. A 26800 would probably last a good minute or two. Id buy it.

In theory would work, in practice it is limited by the low current of Hank’s boost driver (6V 4A or 12V 2A) so hopefully there will be a more powerful version soon. Imagine how hot a 4x XHP35 d4v2 would get.

With this build I’ll be going for maximum power. Which has more output? Although it’ll probably be next year before I’m in a position to do it so there might be another by then, I guess.

Unless Hank suddenly releases a new and upgraded boost driver, the only good way is a 3V led (SFT40, maybe XHP50.3HI), linear+FET driver, and a high performance 21700 like the P45B. Not sure if the XHP50 will focus well but the SFT40 definitely will.

Ya I was just kidding lol. Although that would be an awesome light.

I think thatd need at least like 50amps continuous from the one battery to run and I have no clue what would have to be done on the driver side

2 Thanks

Maybe a 2S FET or 3S buck driver could make it work. Hopefully it’s possible to modify the output voltage of the M44 driver to 6v, for running XHP50 and SFT70.

Yes I am in… with 5050 there are more LEDs to choose for more solution

Update 2023-11-10: Got the boards, modded a few lights with them. Great success. PM me if interested in buying one or having a light modded.

Which continent are You on?

1 Thank

It says if you click my username. I’m in south america, though shipping for these shouldn’t be all that expensive. Not as much as jackson sells them for, iirc.
