I have a Convoy S6 with SFT40 3000k that has a bright semi circular ring in the spill. Is there a cheap and easy way to fix this?
BLF member Boaz sells diffusion film (in small amounts for little money) that should be able to fix that.
Post in his thread and ask for his advice, or PM him.
He’s an expert on this sort of thing.
beam artifact comes from the light reflected by the bottom of the reflector.
Try scraping off the reflective layer at the bottom with a knife or blackening it with a marker.
I took a black Sharpie marker to the bottom of the reflector and that fixed it beautifully. Thank you!
Nice!
I’m glad that you were able to fix the problem without spending any money.
Thanks, Simon, for your advice.
Party’s over, problem fixed, but one “helpful hint” I got is to put the light on its lowest possible setting (so you don’t go blind), then look down the reflector and adjust the light back’n’forth 'til you notice it go brighter (ie, the ring in the beamshot is now hitting your pupil), and you’ll see where in/on the reflector the issue is.
(Add a sheet of window-tint if lowest/moonlight is still too bright.)
Can you give a more detailed descriptive on exactly where on the bottom of the reflector you did this fix? Thanks.
What I did was put the tip of the marker through the opening, pressed the side of the marker against the very bottom of the reflector opening, then rotated the reflector. It took several tries to get the angle of the marker right.
Thanks I’ll try that
I have two of the same model and no rings. I love that hotspot.
There is one difference though. On one of them, the inside three quarters of the hotspot has a slight pink or magenta color to it. Only noticeable on White Walls.
Any guesses?
With the S2+ and that led there are multiple rings. Not really a problem in use.
White Walls, problem.
