Just ordered this light.

Just ordered this light, $40.58 shipped from the US warehouse. It says XM-L2 but we’ll see. UF

People here say it’s poorly driven, can anyone suggest a better driver? Or do I need to build one?

From the DX website FAQ here.

Q: Do you have warehouse in USA?

A: There is no US Warehouse, we send US Direct goods from world factory to USA, and have cooperation with INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE to make faster delivery.

the picture suggests indeed XM-L2's. There are several people here who know how you could improve the output of your driver if you show a picture of it. There are also a few projects going on at the moment for new drivers for this type of light (search BLF for SRK driver). If you decide to drive it much harder, also care must be taken of improving the heatsinking of the flashlight.

My mistake - I see US direct and think US shipper. Either way, as long as it get’s here before summer!

I thought the same thing till someone else on here pointed this out

I have not tried the US direct shipping yet. Every time I order, the stuff I want is not available in US direct.

Well there is this one, still in somewhat of a R&D phase but I think I might have the kinks worked out…waiting on my solder tips to show up

After a week without shipping, DX canceled the order (I never requested it) and promised a refund. They say the item is out of stock but haven’t bothered to update the product page.

Yet another bad DX experience.

Since they gave me a $5 coupon for my trouble I bought a similar light. It’s underdriven of course but most of these are.

KINFIRE K70X 7 x CREE XM-L2 3500lm 3-Mode White Flashlight - Black (4 x 18650) - They confirmed via chat that the LEDs are XM-L2s but we’ll see.

Light

I also ordered that light yesterday because DX canceled my Ultrafire 6x XM-L2 light order without warning. I mainly got it because of the advertised 5800mA draw, which no doubt is an exaggeration but is still hopefully higher than the 2800ma of the Ultrafire. I already have one of the Ultrafire ones and it’s bright, but not as bright as a Rustu 5x XM-L T6 light they carry. I just like the more compact design better.

This FINALLY arrived and they’re XM-Ls NOT XM-L2s. The picture on the product page shows XM-L2s on a silver backing but the one I got has 3 wires on a green backing.

How do you guys typically handle this? Have them send a new one or just get a refund?

well, at least the picture on the dx-page now show the old XM-L's, the title still says XM-L2's, in the specs they are XM-L's again. I don't know if they changed it, however wrong they are, from how it is looking now I would not expect XM-L2's just beacause of the title.

The way they want you to do it is post a friendly ticket, and have a lot of patience. And expect a refund, not a XM-L2 light. The hard way is filing a Paypal-dispute, but I have no experience with that.
