KLARUS XTQ2 switch problem ?

Hello all,

i just received a Klarus XTQ2, the one with the silent switch metal plate.

I was wondering if i had a defective switch: when i try to unscrew the switch, it’s like the 2 parts of the switch were trying to unscrew themselves till it finally start to unscrew it from the tube.

When i unscrew the switch, it starts becoming mushy like it’s untightening some part inside.

Xtq2 owners, does your switch act like that ?

I made a video.

Thank for your help.

I have one. I’ll take a look tonight after work

Thank you buddy, that would be great !

I cant watch the video. The site keeps setting off my virus protection.

From looking closely at mine it does appear the tailcap is 2 pieces that are held together with small torx screws. I don’t have the correct bit to take them out to explore further.

Perhaps they are loose? Or your retaining ring inside the switch is loose

Unless you mean the tactical ring? That is separate from the tail cap. So you have tube-ring-tailcap

And the tailcap looks to be 2 pieces held together by screws

Thank you for having a look.

With my tailcap, the two pieces ( the one with screws and the one below) are almost unscrewing and then the metal plate untighten a bit and start moving.

From what i understand, on your tailcap, nothing moves except the metal plate ( which is of course normal) ?

Then mine must be defective.

I’ll try to upload the video somewhere else for your final opinion, but my xtq2 seems defective.

Thank you.

Check that the retaining ring inside the tailcap is tight. Could be that.

Can you embed the video into the post? That might help.

The metal switch on mine only moves a hair when you push it

Here’s the video.

As you can see, when the tailcap is tightened, everything is fine, but when i unscrew it, the upper part of the tailcap start unscrewing before the lower part, which i find really intriguing…

I wonder if it’s not a feature to reduce or increase the amplitude of the switch…

Or it’s just a defect.

Mine does not do that.

I’d pull it all the way off and see if the screws sheered off or if they just need to be tightened.

Gosh, i think you’re right, something’s wrong….i will ask my seller before dismantling everything, thank you for your help.

I’m trying to contact Neal ( Banggood ) through the private message but no answer until now: is he on holiday ?

I guess i’ll have to stick with banggood customer service….is there someone else to contact banggood through the forum ?

Xtq2 price was good, but i would prefer a working one.

I have exactly the same problem with my XTQ1 which arrived today, the silent switch is a mess and its shaking around inside the tailap much more than in your video. I hope that wasnt the reason for the cheap prices? I have to contact Banggood. The spring seems also loose but the silver ring is kind of stuck. Dont know what the 3 black screwes are for but i dont have the tool to unscrew them.

Another thing, there is this tactical ring and it was loose on mine, that cant be right.

Another thing, the switch is not starting the light at all so i used the paperclip trick but the light is still not working? Is the light itself defective as well?

I think tightening the three screws is useless because i have the feeling that those screws just prevent twisting of the lower part of the switch. When i twist the lower part all in like it should be the light is still not working and the silent switch still kind of rattles around. I asked Banggood for a new switch, it looks identical to your XTQ2 switch.

The tactical ring on mine would spin around as well. I saw no need for a tactical ring anyway so I just took it off.

I can start mine now, i guess the problem we have is that the tailcap consists of two pieces and thr 2nd part has become loose maybe because of those three screwes. Now when you screw the tailcap in you have to make sure that the 2nd part of the tailcap is screwed completely in as well. Than the light will work, of course its not ideal but we can at least use the light. Maybe banggood can send us a tailcap without that problem

Yep, Banggood is shipping me a new tailcap, hope it will be a functional one…. :frowning:

But kudos to them. :+1:

The tacticool ring is also moving like crazy and absolutely not silent which is quite funny but could get you killed in action.

they send me a new one as well. I found out that the tactical ring was mounted wrong from Klarus Just flip the tactical ring and it will fit

Any news on your side ?

No, banggood said the switch is out of stock, its a bit strange.

Yep, same here.

I hope they will find replacement, or this flashlight is useless.
