Leatherman Sidekick or Ganzo 301 or other multi tool?

I agree... Leatherman is king of multitools and ultimate undisputed champion. 25years warranty is amazing same as their service. There are other strong tools like Victorinox spirit and Victorinox swisstool,

But guys don't forget Ganzo 301! Ganzo 301 is not bad at all... In fact no one can beat this tool for this price... You will get high quality holster and set of bits for free:) Incredible...I can bet that it will not disappoint event greatest multitool freak... I recommend...

Try to get all that with Leatherman and Victorinox and it will break your 100$ budget.

Also It will meet all your needs except cutting thicker wires for incredible price.

But to me… The Ganzo’s look like Gerber Suspension knock offs.

Plenty of budget lights here are knockoffs to but that does not preventing us from buying them? :)

This Gerber looks good. Maybe Gerber copied Ganzo(less likely)? Who was first chicken or egg? :)

Doesn’t matter to me. Just sayin… I’m not buying… I already spent my lunch money this week.

There are rumors somewhere online that Ganzo are OEM for Gerber multi tools…

I’d almost just want to buy a Ganzo and use it for a while to see if I can screw it up under normal use. I don’t like knocking things I’ve not used, but I also don’t see a need to buy a tool that I already have a perfect version of.

That’s why I havent bought a Ganzo. Not trying to discredit them. But they look so much alike. It would be like buying another Gerber.

Each time I come close to buying G201B (all black, non locking version of G301), I imaginary add its funds to something better - Leatherman MT’s and thus I still don’t own Ganzo MT and I’m not likely to buy one either given that its 22$ towards good LM with 25 year warranty, perfect reasoning :D!

Then again, I have coupon worth 2.6$ from Fasttech, that would bring the price of G201B below 20$ which is tempting, on the other hand, as I said earlier, my both Wingmans cost me 25$ and 30$ respectively :D!

So, as you see, its not an easy decision, or is it?

It all boils down to warranty and world wide availability of it, and this is where currently Ganzo lacks, somehow shipping time back and forth between China and my homeland are pretty long.

Then again, ultra cheap multi tool with still usable tools inside of it that isnt much of a loss when broken or lost in the woods… Hmm…

Anyone tried their warranty service, any comments?

Damn. I’m still debating…Lol! Now someone put in the equation of saving and then buying a more expensive one! Problem is when I save, I end up using the money for something more urgent and keep postponing :stuck_out_tongue:

Please don't buy G201B and don't compare it to G301. G301 is something completely different and better. Locking system, and blades opening system are simply amazing...

This is my last post on this tool... I am not from China and I have nothing of promoting this thing but most of you don't know what you are missing here. For guys that are buying their first multitool this will be an excellent choice. For guys that have much expensive tools put this baby into your car or truck you never know when you'll need it.

Why you need warranty for something worth 35$ with free shipping in which you will get free set of bits and high quality belt pouch? Try to get all that with Leatherman and Victorinox so you will se how much it will cost you.

Only one question then man…How good is the saw in it? This is what really needs to be good/outstanding for me.
Thanks

Saw, serrated and regular blade are fantastic for cheapo tool, Opening and locking mechanism is fantastic.

I tried to saw of small branches while I was in fishing but u could go with bigger branch with more effort of course. It has 60 mm long blade, material thickens 1,5mm

This is bigger tool than laetherman new wave or charge tti.

Only thing I don't recommend on ganzo 301 is super dully and soft wire cutter on pliers.

Everything else(locking mechanism of each tool, blades and provided tool set) works fantastic. Unbelievable but true...

I often use it on my atv vehicle. You have everything you need for small repairs and of course can and beer cap opener...

When comparing to premium brands Ganzo does not fail in any way with this tool except material. Victorinox and Leatherman are made of better material so they can whitstand a lot more abuse.

But for regular guy Ganzo is more than enough... For professional construction worker you will need to buy Leatherman supertool anyway because it is super strong. Stronger and bigger than charge tti and new wave.

Yo luminarium iaculator. One last thing since I just checked and fasttech won’t be shipping until February 5.
I am specifically looking at the Ganzo G301B Multi Tool Pliers Hunting Camping with Knife which rounded off is $38. I see that it has an outside spring. How solid is that spring? Can it come off?

The sidekick can be had for $48 shipped. Is it worth the $10 premium or save the $10 and get the ganzo?
Thanks.

edit:
What is the blade lenghts (normal and serrated and saw lenght on the ganzo….The sidekick blade is a bit short at 6.35cm …

+10 for Leatherman… warranty aside you can’t beat the quality… The Sidekick and Wingman are on the low end of Leatherman’s QC and still beat out anything in that price range <$50… I picked up both during the holidays at Home depot for 18-20$ a piece… If your state side MountainKing you wont beat a leatherman…

And for what its worth, if you can find a Leatherman Wave in your price range you’ll never look back… I own a, original ST, Skelitool, WM, SK, ST300, New wave, a few squirts and Micra’s and Sog… I gave away both my Gerber’s, Diesel and suspension.

Also Amazon has the wingman for around $26.50 right now…

Are you not in the US MountainKing? Maybe I missed that, which may explain why you can’t get the Sidekick priced decently.

That’s what i was thinking… there is to many vendors stat side to pass on a Leatherman.

I’m in Mauritius  Google it up if you don’t know where it is!

HAHA ya I had know idea were that was

you havent decided yet? Pay the extra $10 spot… Leathermans warranty is AWESOME… NO reason tp stress over the price of a cheeseburger… LOL

The reason why I want warranty on things I buy, especially TOOLS that are meant for real WORK and real THINGS being DONE is that sometimes things break and thats where tools shouldnt be neither overly abused nor babied.

So, under 20$ Im fine with tool breaking after some abuse, but for 38$, sorry, its too much of money at stake here.

And luminarium iaculator - whats the point of pliers in a tool if they are neither precision shaped with narrow tip nor heavy duty capable of cutting bigger gauge wires :D?

Decent Victorinox knife with all the bells and whistles that OP needs might be the best choice for him in that case :).

IF pliers are a must, then, I guess, its better to have something more robust and capable rather than gimmicky option, yes? Not that pliers in Wingman/Sidekick are as good as in Rebar/MUT/OHT/ST300/Surge 2013 where there are replaceable hard wire cutters, but they arent crap either!

Anyway, neither are perfect, good luck deciding which one to pick, OP :D!
