Well SWMBO is NOT to happy about this so instead of having to take it out to my mom's and lock it in my safe I keep there I figured I'll try to sell it first (she doesnt want it around the kid's who love to play with all my lights).

The light is a brand new Solarforce L2C host I bought just for this build, the emitter is a brand new LEN ENGIN LZ1 365mn UV single die emitter, the driver is a 105c with 4x 7135's for 1.4A with all components (including C1) moved to the top. High only with double click for strobe. I'm using a M1 masterpiece pro pill (which is machined instead of stamped) for the added mass under the emitter and is foil wrapped for a tight fit. Also, I fit the LED on a xml-color sinkpad so its DTP (why I'm able to overdrive it slightly). It has a clear switch boot, FWD clicky and even tho it doesnt need it at <1.5A the spring is braided. If you really want I will reflash it to add modes but there's really no reason to have modes with a UV light and at such low current its not like you need to extend the runtime with a low or anything, really single mode is all you need.

If you're looking for a UV light this is the real deal, not like 405nm. There is almost no visible light (in my light box it measures 10Lm) but an extreme amount of UV. It makes EVERYTHING glow, infact some stuff glows so bright it actually gives off MORE visible light than the emitter does! DO NOT LOOK INTO RUNNING EMITTER, same goes for a reflection of the emitter, do not point it at your face at all, ever, period! You assume all risk. Because of the danger associated with UV you must be 18+ for this one.

One more quick pic added to OP, because of how slippery the CF is the light will include this perfect fitting nitecore cigar grip ring (it’s literally a perfect fit, not just sandwiched in there, the tail still screws down the full way)

Also I know $100 is a lot of money for a light with 10 visible lumens but consider the price of the host ($35) and the price of the emitter plus XML-color sinkPAD ($40+) plus the MP1 pill and the work this really isnt THAT expensive, you absolutely will not get another UV light in 365nm of this quality for anything near this price (if at all, there’s not a lot on the market) even building one yourself you’d only save a few bucks.

This UV emitter will cure Norland Optical Adhesive even better than the Sun, it’ll cure fingernail polish and many paints, even has some usage to sterilize. The sheer output this LED ENGIN LZ1 produces is just nuts! Turns my Transitions lenses in my glasses a near instant dark smoke that I almost never see outdoors. (only on cold brilliantly sunny days)

Anyone that’s even a little interested in a UV light should seriously check this out. If I hadn’t just built one of my own with this emitter I’d surely be looking at this Carbon Fiber version.

And Dan’s right, the price of the host, the price of the emitter, you’re gaining the completed build for a measley $25, with the benefit of the heavier pill and UI.

Is that a scratch on the reflector? It can easily be seen in both photo’s of the roll over.
Also is the bezel scratched up from headstanding or modding?
Is this powered by a single 18650?

From personal experience I can confirm that this is a impressive and dangerous emitter.

C-K, did you measure the current through the led in this build? It may have a 4x7135 driver, but even to get to 1A, it needs about 4.2 V if I remember the spec. sheet well.

As stated in the OP anything you see in the original pic’s is dust/dirt/a dog hair on the outside of the lens. Here’s a few more pic’s after a dusting. The reflector is brand new and I am very versed in handling such delicate parts, I don’t touch them without a new pair of gloves and even then NEVER touch the shiny side, it’s literally perfect.
There are some extremely light scratches on the bezel from head standing on my shelf, those can be seen in these new pic’s as well. Very light and you have to really look close for them. Of course being a P60 you have dozens and dozens of aftermarket options if you want to replace it. Note this one is SS and the original solarforce part (this host came in the mail just last wednsday).

DJOzz, I measured emitter current with a shunt in the + output from the driver. Measured in a hot off the charger 25R I got 1.35A, measuring with a rested (but full) cell I get 1.21A. A 4.35v cell should net you the full 1.4A after resting.

Yes 1x18650 only.

I am wondering if there are not any UV lights out on the market that will put out this much UV?

Keltec (?) used to use UV lights to hunt scorpions. He said the scorpions appeared pale or semi-translucent and showed up easily against the ground. I have yet to go scorpion hunting with one but a garden spider shows up pretty neat. :slight_smile:

(maybe keltex? can’t remember, but I bought a P-60 drop-in that he highly recommended some time back and have used it to fluoresce diamonds and other jewels, pretty neat. And it is puny, severely puny, in comparison to the LZ-1)

Yeah, most scorpions fluoresce. Only a few millipedes. 365nm is best for photography as it doesn’t paint a blue background around the subject.

Do you have a photo of just the P60 drop in? How does this compare to say the Kaidoman 365UV drop in?

The Kaidomain one is the one I’ve had, still have, and it doesn’t even begin to compare to the LZ-1. Seriously, it’s a toy beside the much better LED ENGIN emitter.

I have no idea how it compares but I’d guess (tho probably a little biased) that it kills it in every possible way lol. They just use some generic no name Chineese emitter right?

Sorry but I don’t have any pic’s of just the drop in but I’m not willing to sell it like that anyway. It looks just about standard, the only real difference is the emitter shelf thickness, the machine marks and the reflector had to be shortened (on the back side) to work with the MP1 pill.
The MP1 pills are fully machined from solid stock where a standard cheap P60 pill is stamped to shape then threaded so the emitter shelves are almost never a consistent thickness or flat (why if you search around people have came up with so many methods for flattening them). They also don’t quite fit stock, the bottom rim has to be beveled just slightly to allow them to seat fully in the head.

Just looked closer at those pic’s (don’t know why!). Man I’m glad we don’t have that crap here! There is this one bug that gives me the creepy-crawleys still- Google image “house centipede”. Those things get a few inches long and are faster than people, they bite AND sting (at the same time if you piss ’em off enough). That’s enough for me. I’ll take spiders any day (tho there are lots of spiders that glow in UV too and that makes anything more spooky).

The strobing really makes stuff stand out btw, just incase glowing brightly isnt enough on its own it strobes at 22.5Hz too.

Just an idea, no real idea of how well it will work comparatively though. Im looking to do something similar to the muel light that uses leds and gitd bits set in epoxy that was posted here a while ago. But I want it to be more p60 based, the cf host is just a bonus.

I’m not a fan of house centipedes either. Always been glad they apparently don’t bite often and may not be able to break the skin.

I’ll take spiders too over centipedes. Well, as long as they are not too large.

Caught this big spider once. Size of the palm of my hand. Grabbed him with thick leather gloves and damn, I could feel the sob struggling hard through the gloves. Strongest friggin bug I’ve come across. Found it 2 feet from the head of a family member who was laying on the floor watching tv. Just caught sight of its two legs visible under a table and I could tell it was a big spider. Probably still have it in a jar in the basement.
