Lets talk about shoes

Thanks for the tutorial. Not sure what to make of that system or if it is available here. Rural healthcare usually is behind the curve. I have been told hips are easier than knees. Then the question remains in my case of how to treat the suspected RA. Goodbye immune system. Good luck. PS: found this Stryker Hip Lawsuit | Settlement Amounts & 2023 Updates

Thanks pennzy, will definitely be digging into that!

Necrobump!

I wanted to order a couple of inexpensive things on Amazon, and I don’t have Prime, and I never want to pay for shipping, so I quickly researched “slippers” (and then “slip” for slip on shoes) because I wanted to see if I could find a better pair of shoes for around the house (and I was desperate to get free shipping.)
These shoes look pretty decent for $20, and if I really don’t like them, I can return them.

By the way, I love how Amazon is using AI to summarize customer reviews.
I know that there are plenty of fake reviews on all websites, but if I don’t go by customer reviews, I’m just guessing randomly sometimes.

EDIT:
I plan to wear these shoes without socks, so I hope they’re comfy that way.
I have some cotton insoles that I like to use instead of socks, but the insoles won’t cover the tops of my feet. :foot:

Well, I have size 15 feet, so I generally walk in and ask “Do you have anything at all in 15?” Usually not. Then I have to go to places online, and you can’t really be too choosy with brands in this case. Having a good selection isn’t realistic. Just gotta locate something that will fit.

I’m kinda lucky.
I have size 12.5 or 13 feet, and size 13 shoes usually fit me well.
When I was searching on Amazon, I just looked at the shoes that came in 13.
I’m glad my feet aren’t any bigger than they are. :footprints:

Chinese knockoffs of adidas/running shoes is all I use

If you do that for long periods, especially if taking walks… those shoes are going end up stinking. I don’t see them mention anything about removable insoles or being washable. So I’d suggest using a socklet (below ankle) when wearing them.

When I wear my shoes without socks, it’s usually for a very short amount of time.
I go barefoot around the house (when it isn’t too cold), but my bedroom is in an unattached garage, so I have to wear shoes to go from my room to the main house and back. :+1:

EDIT:
The shoes I just ordered are washable according to two customer reviews, so that’s an added bonus, plus I’ll be adding washable cotton insoles to the shoes.
(I don’t think that the shoes that I currently wear without socks are washable.)

I ordered some slippers…

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MZPLT8S
They’re machine washable, and they have “Silvadur”, which apparently makes them get less smelly than your average slippers.
I don’t think that they’re all that attractive, but I’m not trying to make a fashion statement. :slightly_smiling_face:

Those are quite handsome!
Are those at Sam’s Club or Costco, or something like that?

EDIT:
Nevermind, I found them.

I thought they would be complete garbage for $20 but they are better than expected.

I hated Crocs and swore I’d never wear them and then there was a good deal…so I caved. Now I’m sold. Lately there are many good deals for $30+/-. Can’t believe I’m ‘shilling’ but you should try them. SD or Tech or Ben’s

I have some Dawgs (similar to Crocs) and some pretty respectable generic Crocs.
They’re okay, but I never wear them, so I guess I like my other shoes more. :athletic_shoe:

Around here I need something to slip on and go outside in snow, mud, wet grass without breaking my arse. Typically go on sale for about $40. Amazon.com

I can’t stand cheap flip-flops. After having a number of them, I decided to get serious and check out all of the offerings to see what I could find to my liking in the $40~80 range.

Teva makes great sandals. I have a couple of them, still going strong for many years. They also have a variety of flip-flops. One I zeroed in on is the Pajaro.

Really nicely made. A rugged, hiking shoe like tread. Comfortable foot-bed and strap. These are great for the beach, but also home wear. I had one pair for 8+ years before they fell apart (and that was because I’d been exposing them to salt water every summer, and not being mindful to thoroughly rinse them). They come in a variety of colors. List price is $60 USD, but I’ve gotten them as cheap as $32 on sale.

An even higher quality sandal brand is OLUKAI, from Hawaii. They have the best foot-beds I’ve ever seen on a flip-flop. I picked up a pair of the Ohana model. Whoa, are they pricey. $75 retail. I managed to get a pair for $49, which were open-box “tried on once”. They are amazing. I’m not that crazy about the tread, because it’s easy for debris to get caught in the asymmetrical pattern (the smaller “Cheerios”). Also, I’ve seen photos of them worn after several beach seasons and the foot-bed can start to separate. This pair I have is dedicated for in-home wear and they work great for that.

Looks pretty nice!
I ordered the same brand, but completely different shoes for $20 a bit earlier in this thread. :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow, those are stunning!
They’re a bit too pricey for me, but I usually get shoes with leather uppers.
I used to get shoes with suede uppers, too, but leather is more durable.
Of course, my latest two pairs of shoes that I ordered don’t have leather or suede uppers, which is a bit different for me. :+1:

I received these slippers today.
I haven’t worn them very much, but they’re good enough to keep, so I won’t be returning them.
They do seem to be at least a bit warm, which is what I was hoping for.
It doesn’t get that cold here in Southern California, but when it does get somewhat cold, I’ll be wearing these around the house.
Also, they look more attractive in person than they do online.
The white spots aren’t as prominent as in the stock photo above. :slightly_smiling_face:
