Light Poetry

I know, but I thought me ranting about it would be funny. I would have written a longer (funnier) rant, but I had to go help someone his homework.

@ cone: "You're busting my chops, right?"

Naturally! This is BLF, not - cheesy thunderclap goes here - that other place

I had no idea it was that obtuse a reference.

Johnny Mac is all weaky and shakey

His bad knees and his back are all achey

After yanking the wheel

On his hog he does feel

That his body's about to go breaky

Well I know I'm not young anymore

And my symptoms I just can't ignore

At the end of the day

I don't feel the same way

As I did when I was 24 ...

Limerick that sucks

My humour, seems was a mistake

Jump in the lake? No, please do wait

My comments were caustic

I must have just lost it

Please dump my poor taste in the lake

I know I can cease and desist

Not hard 'cause I'm not that brilliant

I search and I ponder

My mind's off and yonder

But finally I found some restraint

Big words are an asset sometimes

Verbosity can be a crime

The syllabes more

Are often a bore

The plain and the simple, divine

The reason for this sad entreaty

Because, I am really that needy

I meant, no harm done

I admit, it was dumb

A rhyming sor-ry is not easy.

Was it something I said?

I hope so, because I was thinking, and still do, that my failed attempt at humor sucked all the fun out of this. If it was indeed me, come on back guys, I'll try to be less of an a$$.

This thread was disrupted by Cone

His joke was not funny 'tis known

For him to make amends

To all of his friends

He must create a limerick of his own :)

Umm . . . I was just having fun, wasn't directed at anybody. Just trying to hang with the brainiacs. Should have known I couldn't keep up . . . that damn hick school in Tuscaloosa done taught me wrong.

It seems I've been at it for hours

Rhyming is not one of my powers

Eyes getting all starry!

Can't I just say I'm "sorry",

And bring you some nice flowers?

Seriously, thats as good as it gets. Never going to get that afternoon back...

Good enough , Mr. Cone

EDIT :

Awesome Cone, I hope you realize I was kidding around with my post. Humor is sometimes hard to do online.

Tell me about it.

We've all demonstrated rhyme prowess

The burden of wit every hour

Which means one of us

Though painful, he must

A martyr in lieu of the flowers.

Foy

I did it again.

As the "martyr" I was staying away just to give you guys a break from my relentless silliness. I'm sure it gets old sometimes. I figured I'd use the time away to reread some classics. Can't really say what happened to the rest of them.

Make these into a e-book/paperback?.....writer? My wife loved it. She (as am I) was impressed by these. Very good job all. Our baby son (38) died 9Mo ago and the wife has not laughed much (if any) since. It was nice to hear her really "LAUGH"! Not seeking sympathy but saying "THANKS FOR MAKING MY WIFE LAUGH"! Seriously +!

Keith

First JohnnyMac's dog and now this. I'm so sorry. The loss of a pet is bad, but I can not for the life of me imagine the loss of a child, at any age. No parent should ever have to face that. God bless you guys.

Keith, I understand you're not seeking it, but deepest sympathy all the same. Cone's right, no parent should have to outlive any of their children, I think it's probably our worst deep-down fear. Wish there was something comforting to say, very happy if we helped your wife to smile again.
