Live stream for Iceland volcanic eruption

https://www.ruv.is/frett/2021/03/20/beint-vefstreymi-fra-eldstodvunum . In the night shots you can see people with flashlights on the hills behind the eruption. Wonder what they are using?

thanks.

had plans to go to Iceland
last year. yeah, right.
someday.
someway.

We went 3 years ago and had a great time. Got to see aurora and lots of waterfalls. Highly recommended.

Thats about the coolest live stream I’ve ever seen

Cool, They look like the Hawaiian volcanoes, no?

Yes to Hawaii. This one is a baby. Its 12 miles from the airport and it isn’t even shut down.

Thank you for an unusual and interesting volcano light show. Funny people out walking around a live volcano—no idea what drugs they are using.

I would say “lava lamps”, but… :person_facepalming:

I looked last night in the dark and just now when it’s daylight. Zooming in in the daylight you can see people moving around maybe as many as 50 or more at a time and I’m still occasionally seeing some flashes. If you didn’t get to see the lights at night you want to zoom in a little to the right and a little below the peak of the eruption to see where the people are walking amongst all those rocks. Edit . People are walking within 300 ft of the peak. So I think some of the flashes at night and daytime are from cameras. Is The flash useful at night or in a daytime? Probably not. I don’t suspect any of those were really bright handheld lights.

This is excellent thanks for the link to the stream! I’ve had it running on the TV all morning while listening to war of the worlds for the first time in years

This morning i can see to the right behind the volcano and a big group of people hiking up the trail to the flat side of the hill. A helicopter just flew over—must not be much debris hazard for the engine?

Last night it was flowing down the front side, today the primary flow is toward the back.

Zoom in to the bottom front edge, around 16:09 there is a lava river about to overflow to a new path—and there is a guy running toward it! Up river there are two flows crossing under/over each other that later merge.

Awesome, thanks a lot for posting this!

That is incredible,thanks.

I’ve got this live streaming on a big screen TV. Mesmerizing to watch. Few minutes ago, a couple hikers walked up close to the camera and waved hello… lol

A lot of activity now, a lot of flashlights on the hillside!

Yeah there are some strong beams out there, plus somebody is waving around a green laser over from the walking trail on the right.

I don’t recall the flashlights appearing to have that blue tint last night. Camera setting or filter? They changed the batteries about 2 hours ago and I think they zoomed the view in slightly. They claim it’s an 8 or 9 hour hike, I assume that is round trip. It is supposed to rain, sleet and then snow during the night there. Police and other officials are on scene but they’re using helicopters. Scroll down on the website that has the live feed for little news updates over the last day and a half.

If you are interested, this video gives some nice maps showing where the eruption is and what is going on. According to this guy the eruption may last for 6 months or more.

It’s 1:41 AM over there and hard to believe that people are still walking up from the back right side (with some big bright flashlights). It is especially so since it snowed last night and the lava has spread quite a bit filling up the foreground area that was clear yesterday. The snow covered hills were a surprise, can’t wait to see it in the daylight tomorrow.
