Received my brass nano with the aluminium 10440 tube from lumintop lighting. Customer service was really good when asking questions about the product and they were quick to switch my original order from an aluminium nano to a brass nano after learning about the 2mm mcpcbs in the newer lights.
Will pick up a brass 10440 tube when they are available along with an aluminium nano when a batch with 2mm pcbs is made, but for now have a bit of a frankenlight.
Even with all the reviews/videos I’ve seen, its pretty shocking seeing so much light coming from something so small!
xylnas, congrats on your Nano, and thanks for posting pics
FWIW
It is a common misconception to think that Brass has better heat conductivity than Aluminium. In reality Brass is Worse than Aluminium for heat conductivity.
imo, the reason some of the Nanos have a problem overheating the LED is because the reflow has an airgap under it, (and I think some people try to use Turbo, too much, by firing it over and over, which overheats the light)
I edited Toms photo to add arrow and text, also see post 727.
imo, the solution is to redo the reflow, properly.
They seem to have come back into stock today showing 36 available.
Thanks!
Interesting, I have always just assumed that due to the copper content that brass would be a better thermal conductor. Will have to take it into consideration in the future, although I am assuming that due to the air gap between the pcb and the body of the light (rather than some form of heatsink) that this will have a relatively small impact on actual useful heat dissipation in relation to running of a torch?
2) the 10440 (Vapcell) gets me way more runtime and 60% more output (390lm at start and 320lm at 30 seconds) than the silly stock 10180 (210 lm at 5 seconds). The low battery warning+stepdown after 10 seconds on a full battery that I got with the 10180 has stopped too now.
Edit: measured throw with Vapcell 10440 at 30 seconds: 11.3 kcd, which is a bit more than 7kcd that I measured with the 10180 cell, but nowhere near the 21kcd that the stock led produced. Nice tint comes at a price…
3) it looks sóóó much better with a real battery tube.
That DQG is wonderful, even the UI is still fine for me, but swapping the led is risky and a major pain, I ruined a Tiny many years ago while trying to swap the led and left this one stock (70CRI X-G2) sofar.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to be one of those 3 left
Thank you very much for sending the link my friend
I will check them tonight! In case they are sold out, I’ll reach Neal and check if he has or will have some of those too!
Looks like I got the last one. I wonder why Lumintoplighting was the only seller with these, had a limited number, and seemed to be selling them on a “use at your own risk” basis. I wonder when they were produced.
I queried this with the support at Lumintop Lighting, they said that they have heard there will be copper+brass 10440 tubes but don’t have a release date for them.
Apparently will just appear on the site like the aluminium ones did for sale separately.
