MF01 Mini / MT07- Mod/Upgrade - Copper Heatsink Cover Plate

I just want to say - My MF01 mini came in recently (last week) and already had the copper heat sink installed form factory (I am mostly certain at least, when comparing mine to pictures in the OP). I will still be in for the 1 as I committed it to this group and wont back out this late. Also, i will probably be buying another MF01 mini in a high CRI version, and who knows if that one will have the copper HS or not, so I may as well have it anyway. Just thought I would mention this in case anyone is awaiting a new/their first MF01 mini and anticipating doing this mod like i wasā€¦

Oh, and thanks GCHART!

Count me in for 2x copper. Shipping to Germany : )

Artiet59, interesting to hear that your new one came with the plate. Good to see that thatā€™s getting phased in.

fucx and Captain_Joe, you guys have been added to the list.

Alright guys - the heatsink plates have been ordered! The lead time is a bit long, estimated arrival date (to me) is Oct 23. Given the low volume, I should be able to turn around and send them out within a couple days of receipt. Iā€™ll get the stickers ordered in the next couple of days; the turn-around for those is much faster.

Yey, excited

@fucx and Capt Joe - and any EU members,

i talked with Sikarisnagari in Finland and offered to handle the EU part of the deal to save the $14 shipping cost from the US - and share it just once among us. Shipping from France should cost less then 3 euro afterward.

Please let me know if you want me to handle your part(s).

So far the EU members i know of are:

Patmurris - 2 units to France
Sikarisnagari - 2 to Finland
fucx - 1 to Germany
Capt Joe - 2 to Germany
pfuender - 1 to Switzerland

LOL - been off of this list for a little while with tons of work and just missed this.

Not too late. How many?

I could get a couple. Thanks,

Of course! PM sent.

@YogibearAl - youā€™re on the list! I put you down for 2 pcs. If you want more/less, just let me know.

@patmurris - thanks for volunteering to handle the EU parts!

Thanks GChart. The more I use it the more I like it. So modding and gifting this Christmasā€¦ Should be just in time for that. Gotta keep the copper to myself

@GCHART - could you confirm I am in for one or no? I am OK with it either way, as i do not need one now per se but may need one in future. I just wanted to check. Thank you.

Just to show you, and actually confirm with you guys if this the cu plate. This is how my recent MF01mini came to me from astrolux (Banggood).

:+1:

Is it brass or copper? Wonder if they used the thermal pads or thermal paste under the plate?

Please let us know if works as well as Manoflights

@Artiet59 - no worries. I can remove you from the list for now. I ended up picking up a couple extras, so Iā€™ll likely have one if you need it later on. Just let me know if you want back in.

Re: brass / copper. Lexel said they were using brass. But, as most of us are aware, ā€œcopperā€ and ā€œbrassā€ easily get crossed in translation.

Gchart - thank you. I did not want to jam up this group from moving forward by backing out, so if you find youā€™re not moving them just post to this group down the road and ill pick one up. But thank you for the out for now.

Brass would make sense in the one i pictured, as stated above it looks identical to the center pin. I donā€™t remember where i read it recently (maybe in this post) that the hierarchy of metals by thermal dissipation are Cu (100), Al (approx. 70?), Brass (approx. 25), and Ti (approx 5?). I put question marks because that it was i remember the numebrs to be but havent verified. Anyway, reason i mention it is that i guess the zinc in brass really degrades its thermal ability. Kindā€™ve a bummer for the new d4v2 i bought, but then again it gets as hot as fast as my fw3C anyway, but i recognize that the burning hand test is not too scientific

Got mine today, I ordered one with the copper head and it has the plate fitted as well. You can clearly see it has a different tint compared to the copper head.

Yeah, brass should be better than the plastic one for sure. But not quite as good as copper. What I ended up ordering was the Copper 101 alloy which is considered ā€œpure, oxygen freeā€ something like 99.99% purity. Ought to be good enough
