I would prefer buying THIS driver and then strip some AMC7135s if you want to reduce current.
if you look at the sheet picture it appears there is a 3040mah version..would be perfect for the xml..let's hope it shows up..2280mah is a little low, but good for a low heat xml light if you were building one..
3-5 mA low - that's a proper moonlight mode. I like it. Looks like there will be a 1.5A version too

output is one thing, but the UI in this one is SIGNIFICANTLY better than any other budget offering. Supposedly non visible PWM (YAY!), the ability to choose memory on or off (YAY!), and mode choices that make sense! - like option 1 with memory off, would be very joy!

Nope everything is back-ordered upon ordering on Kai. That doesn't mean anything.
To make it true current regulated and still use cheap AMC7135 chips and attiny13 it would have to be connected and programmed differently. To be more exact attiny13 has six I/O pins that AFAIK could be used to "enable" different number of 7135 chips via VDD pin and thus provide different current levels without any PWM. Perhaps other members (Tido ?) can confirm if that could be possible.
Here are my thoughts about that driver:
Well, it is current regulated by the AMC7135 chips - in the sense that they let 2.1A through. The modes are not made by reducing that current, but by PWM.
The IC does not seem to be an ATtiny. (makes me dislike it)
It's pins would be: V+, GND, PWM-out, batt-sense, 4 config pins S1-S4, so all AMCs are controlled by one PWM.
I wonder why it's "2280mA" - AMC7135s are 350mA typ. 380mA max.. Did they select the 'high-current' ones or did they just use the max specs?
The mode selector table has errors btw... 0XX and 00X are there twice, X00 and XX0 are missing.
I wonder if it switches to the next mode by a short off-tap or by being on for a short time (like the NANJGs).
6*7135 = 2280mA I thought it would be 2100mA.

It very clearly states "Current Controlled" but specialists here say it is not. Too bad...
Only chance to hope PWM is really high or else I think I´m claiming it back...
2,1A is still IMO quite sweet amperage for XM-L.
