New rumoured Hank light

Looks like this old side by side 2AA light I have.

It’s a bug, not the easiest to kill

No way, a Chinese company stole the idea from another Chinese company. That’s a first. LOL

I much prefer the use of fasteners over press fitting or glue. While using the light, the screws will not be visible and therefore their appearance is irrelevant to me.

That said, I’ll probably pass on this one unless it does something fancy like tint ramping. It looks like two D4/KR4s connected to a single cell. If I need a larger, less pocketable light I’ve got the K9.3 and soon the E07X. I’m interested to see if this new light has any tricks up its sleeve.

I found this thread yesterday and have been scratching my head over this light since then. What is the purpose?

A XPL D4 can already reach 4K lumen… this one could do twice at least. I remember running a Q8 off a single 18650 30Q and be surprised it could still output 5K, so this octoled design could do at least 10K and possibly 12. But this will never happen on a single cell, least a 18650. Hence why not 21700, and even then… In any case, this light size cannot pretend to sustain more then 800 lumens… and if you want to blast a D4 full turbo, i’m surprised there is still no due warning to the fire department.

So the output is not the goal obviously. Then what?

Flood and throw combined?
Tint ramping?
Regulated long runtime because the leds are not overdriven and more efficient?

I’ll certainly keep an eye on it until we know more. I don’t think i’ll spend 80 bucks just for the look of it…
Famous last words. :person_facepalming:

the new picture posted makes it look significantly better than the first shot. I would give it a go.

I will wait for the bigger 21700 version. In copper I hope

I wish, I wish, I wish it used a 21700 instead. With a 21700 I feel like it’d be a side switch counterpart to something like an FW21 Pro. Not necessarily the most practical EDC light, but definitely one of the brightest things out there that’s still somewhat pocketable.

I LOVE the idea of interchangeable battery tubes for Emisar/Noctigon lights. A D4v2/D4Sv2 head with a 21700 body would be a nearly perfect EDC for me.

I Hope, there will be a E21A 2700k Option and then one 18650 makes Sense ... I have to buy more VTC6 ;-)

Good idea. Nice looking. 21700 and it’s great. I will probably have to have one regardless.

“comfortable in your pocket.” - seriously?

do you have captain kangaroo pockets?

Just please don’t use Phillips screws…

seriously, what is the point of that many leds?

one cell might be able to overdrive 2 or 3 leds, but not 8?

are they in some more efficient energy region, with each one getting 1/8 of a 21700?

are these special low power limited leds?

does it make a better pattern?
please say what that pattern is, if so, and why you could not get the same thing with one led
(i assume it is a flood, you can hardly focus 8 at once)

is it thermal?

maybe it is a joke

it looks more like a rendering than a pic of something someone actually bothered to make

wle

yep
ugly and too big for pocket

what is the problem that this thing solves?

im liking it less, then more ive been looking at it over the last week. Or, at least i am becoming much less interested in buying it. especially since there are still about 4 or 5 KR4’s and D4’s i want to grab, id rather spend my money on them

there isn’t one, you are right. Or i cant figure it out at least. I thought pocketable higher lumen lighting, but (and I really love hanks lights) would you rather have a FireFlies e07x or this thing? i mean aesthetically, functionally, everything considered - is picking up 1 more LED worth the design? I don’t know ?. Theres no denying how spectacular the d4 and KR4 and many others are, but i dont see this light being a must have. it is genuine and innovative for sure, but novelty too. I just dont know.

I guess i’m just disappointed as I had high hopes for a Hank 7 led light, my HOPE was for a “KR7”. It seemed like a logical “next step” in the KR series.

basically, not to put too fine a point on it, I REALLY wanted Hank’s version of the e07, but in the KR format, with a 21700 and Hanks wonderful tail switch.

I mean maybe its too similar to the e07 for Hank to produce and he doesn’t want to “follow” a path already created, but who wouldn’t buy a KR7 ? I would probably buy more than 5 lol.

I think the point of this light is that manufacturers need to think out of the box. The lumen war can only go so far, the throw distance has reached some theoretical limits. Its time to start doing stranger things to attract customer. I think Hank is on the right track . The K7.3 was also revolutionary. Two lights in one. We need more Emisar type companies.

i don;t even like the 4 led design of the emisar

FW3A seems like a good compromise, it doesn;t make the head some huge monster thing

though if the first anduril light had been a 1 led version, FW1A, i would have got that right away and never bothered with the 3LED version

all i want is bright enough, and small enough, with 18650
even if the turbo time may be short, 99.9% of the time i dont; use it anyway

The more different types of flashlights the better. Some of them may not sell well but a few may start a new trend.

This rectangular light looks just as pocketable as a D4V2 in some ways. In fact I’d be interested in seeing something even flatter but wider. Maybe a 3 or 4 * 14500 side by side with a row of LEDs. Like the Manker T02 but taken further or a tiny version of the Klarus RS80.
