I used the zoom function on chrome to zoom just a little. My user icon is only about 1/4" from the right edge, the ellipsis (hamburger) about the same distance on the top left edge. Not sure it can get much better.
BTW, everything looks fine.
I personally donāt like the hamburger menu on the left, and usually have it off.
Different strokes for different folks.
I find I donāt use the sidebar as much on the new site. I find the inbox link useful, and sometimes the āMy Postsā link if I want to grab something I did recently, but I donāt really have much reason to click anything else there. Itād be really cool if it could have the contents of /unread?order=activity
in the sidebar though, instead of āCategoriesā. Then I wouldnāt need that page open in a separate tab.
Or perhaps the contents of /u/$myuser/notifications
in the sidebar. Or a mixture of unread
and notifications
. Basically, a clickable list of what happened that is relevant to my account that I havenāt seen yet, in chronological order newest first.
Iām not sure if Discourse has a way to do that though.
The current method for adding menus to the sidebar is a total hack, as the sidebar itself is new and they havenāt integrated it yet into the templating / plugin system they use. However just yesterday they released an update with an official easy method for adding menus to the sidebar, so Iāll give that a try in a testbed and if it works as advertised then I can hopefully add any URL to the sidebar that exists on the site.
Nice!
I tried to determine how Discourse is determining what criteria Discourse is using in its decision making, but itās inconsistent.
UA spoofing doesnāt work like it does on most sites that throw up such warnings.
Geezā¦ what the heck happend ? looks like u been hacked or somethingā¦ this new format is idkā¦ i feel so lostā¦ why change something that didnt need it ???..
It was needed, as SB explained multiple times : BLF dying? - #111 by sb56637
Hi there @mortuus . It wasnāt a change that I took lightly. It is different now, but it will work well for the needs of the BLF community. Please give it an honest attempt at using it like you normally would, and let me know if there are any specific issues.
Currently, when perusing a thread on an Android tablet, is there a setting available to keep the thread title in constant view while making your way down the thread?
Also, as I was typing the question above, I noticed an icon in the toolbar that Iām unfamiliar with located between the quote and emoji icons, but assume is for uploading photos. Is that correct orā¦?
EDIT:
One more thing I wanted to ask is if thereās a setting available that automatically places the text of the post that Iām responding to into quotes, rather than manually having to do it.
Thanks - JC
I have 4 selections between the quote and emoji icons. . Pre-formatted text (?), Upload, Bulleted list, and Numbered list. If you hover your cursor over each icon, a description is shown below it.
Anyway, which one are you asking about?
For me, the first icon (sort of a bubble/caption looking thing) says āquote entire postā. I think that is what you would want.
To help clarify my first question that you responded to, I need to use a screenshot. So how do I upload a SS?
Save the screen shot in a compatible format, drag and drop it into your reply (on a seperate line)
Or just copy and paste from the app you use to take the shotā¦

You knowā¦ JPG. gif. PNG., ā¦ etc. I am not sure what the list is that is acceptableā¦ but JPG is fine for non-critical things. AND, I know that works, as does PNG.

Ah, I see. My tablet saves SSs into .jpg format automatically. So after I highlight the icon in question on the SS, the only option I have available to move the SS into the text box is by using the āShareā feature. But as far as I understand, that isnāt a viable option.
just drag and drop or copy and paste into your reply. No Icons needed.
But you may have to save the image with your edits firstā¦
BTWā¦ what kind of tabletā¦OS ??

Well, it turns out the icon in question is what I actually use to upload a SS into the text box. As you see, that circled icon is the only one available for me compared to those you have available between the quote & emoji icons.
Iām very grateful for your extended patience with helping me in figuring out the function of that particular icon! - JC

One question answered, two to goā¦
I do everthing on a PCā¦so.
I do have a few tablets, but they are mostly dedicated to specific functions. Like reading books or controlling music. Sometimes I READ forumsā¦ but usually go to the PC for anything else.
Interesting that the UI is that different.
What kind of tablet are you using. I am curious, as , If it is Android, maybe you taught me something.
BTW, this is what I am seeing:
