New Skyray 3*T6 at Manafont, model 818

On mine there's an o-ring on the stainless bezel ring itself as well as one below and above the lens... It seems fairly well sealed...

I'm really digging this light... I know it's only cheap thrills, but it's soooooo bright... I need to get the most enjoyment I can out of it before they make something 4 times more powerful that's half the size...

No, the 850 is the bigger head version. 818 same size.

Ah. So confusing, too many new models... :) Hopefully 850 is same style.

I really like my 818, especially the bezel :) Build quality is very good too I think... It's a bit better than my Trustfire X8...

Cant wait to do some further runtime tests.. I like the floody light :)

I would love to just try the 850, unfortunately at 68 bucks no thanks. It's not as if it's in the DRY form factor and drive levels.

Once again a little bit dissapointed.

Light came today, first what I saw was ugly fingerprints on the reflector.

O- ring on the first tube was between the threads and broken.

Came with totally dry threads.

After repairing, cleaning and greasing a brand new $57.59 it was time to put in my ExCell 3100.

Weird, I bought a 3-mode light and it has 5-modes!

Took the Multimeter and measured current at the tailcap... dissapointing 2.36 A on high.

This evening I shall compare this 818 with the SZOBM 3x XM-L T6 and the DRY CW

This 818 might be the weakest performer, I think.

Overall a good looking light, too bad for it's performance

It seems with the many 3xXML comming out these days, the quality of those Chinese lights is not what it's used to be.

(On the experience of my last three lights I bought)

Think I will stop buying for a while, still 2 lights on it's way (TK-70 and DRY WW)+ 1 set (4xD-size batt. + charger), hope this time everything is gonna be OK for what I payed for.

Thommy, your eX-cell 3100 (Panny NCR18650A) is too powerful.... hehe.... literally no voltage drop hence 2.36A only.

Time to get a lux meter buddy. Don't have to be an absolutely accurate meter, since you are going for "relative". Somemore that is OTF, hence accurate comparisons can be done. (multimeter is way too unstandardised)

Thommy when you have all the lights your ordered, shine all of them at the same time in the sky and i'll search you. Belgium is not that big

Has anybody actually recieved a shipping notice for the 4300 (850 model) yet? I ordered that one too the day they listed it on MF, yet it still hasn't even shipped yet; it would be arriving in a few days now, Except they haven't even shipped it.....starting to smell like a DX order Yell

My SR3800 also took 5 days to ship. But yours is a bit longer i guess. Pls do report back on the beamsize and intensity, i am expecting this to really throw. Have you seen the Jetbeam triple XM-L? Same sized head and the animated GIF picture on CPF indicates that the hotspot size is similar to the SST-50 RRT-3! The Jetbeam triple also has 64mm sized head. But the reflector is different (LEDs are quite clustered in the middle - not the usual arrangement)

And my recent order from MF took a WEEK to ship! It's been more than 2 weeks and still no flashlights. Maybe they're doing more than website maintenance over there ;)

I'm really starting to prefer ebay when possible for these China purchases. They always arrive the fastest compared to the main China etailers. MF has been getting slower for me.

Hmm....i think you guys really ought to get either the DRY or TK70 from CNqualitygoods / HKequipment.

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?320187-SKY-RAY-3*T6-818-XML

Over $100 spent on 2 lights and still no light! Might as well pay for the TK70. And the DRY you can get that light plus 3 extra drivers as backup (and use it like forever)

And it is not an isolated case of bad luck or what, 2 guys x 2 lights. (both guys ordered 2 lights one after another because the first one is DOA)

Interesting part is some got 3 Mode and some 5 Mode (me for example) oO - Well still cant say something negative about it... Hope it wont fail that early

And I am another one. I have bought two torches (SR3800 and TF 3T6) and so far not a working torch in sight. Well over $100. And it has been almost 2 months. Am about to give up and go back to ebay. No problems there (in my vast experience, anyway).

I too am thinking that getting these 'cheap' torches from very unreliable chinese suppliers might be a mistake too. I am thinking that the guys at CPF might not have it all wrong. Maybe I should just get one decent $150 torch and be done with it.

I am also thinking that the Chinese are getting just a bit silly with the lumen thing. Even saying that the Sunray 3800 was 3800 lumens is a big stretch. Probably nearer 3000 lumens. I think they are simply putting out the same torch each time, just changing the specs. And why not. If people will fall for the fictitious 3800 figure, surely they will fall for any other random figure you care to make up! Or maybe I am just a bit cynical?

Huh...kneighbour, you also purchased a TF 3T6 and that is also faulty? That'd be the first case of the Trustfire triple being faulty.

As for the lumens thingy, at least for the technical-minded flashaholics it is not an issue, as we know what a light is capable of and what it is incapable of.

Well, I prefer the DRY because of the parallel arrangement, but I was hoping the price would go down some. It's just a bit out of my pre-determined price range for budget lights. Otherwise it's the perfect triple LED light for me and still a reason why I've been passing on these Sky Ray/Trustfire attempts - I have this hope we'll be seeing more parallel circuits but maybe it's just a fantasy :P

The Dry is using a series circuit not a parallel circuit.

Series circuit, though the cells are being held in a parallel arrangement making for a shorter, more compact torch.

Oh gotcha ;)

Then I mean parallel arrangement, which I actually said the first time :) haha

The problem w/ chinese lights is the poor quality control. Most of the time, even when the light is supposed not working or "flaky", it's the result of improper/half-assed assembly. Two complete broken lights in a row is usually rare.
