I’m wondering what options we have for batteries? I’ve not measured current yet, but I’m assuming around 40 amps out the gate and 30+ most of the cycle. Since we must have button tops, I can find much. I’m running VTC6s which perform very well but max continuous is 15 amp with 30 amp at 80 C temp cutoff.

The closest thing I have found in a button top is the VTC5A 2600ma which is 25A maximum continuous, 35A maximum continuous with an 80deg C cutoff.

If you guys know of anything else available that would be as good or better please let me know……

I prefer OP to SMO reflectors in all my lights including throwers.

Per battery the current is around 10A I guess, so any high drain battery will be fine.

Will there definitely be conversion kits for the GT? Ended up selling my GT to my Dad and I’m sure he’d be interested.

Got to also keep in mind that lower drain cells will also have higher resistance and thus will not draw as much current to start with. Have you measured the current? Or just guessing? Think I was seeing a around 30A (still over 400W) in my early prototype but the improvements I suggested should of raised that a little.

On my early prototype I tested it with 30Q cells till the cells were dead and when I pulled the cells out they were still under the rated temperature (forgot exact number). If they can handle it, most high drain cells should be able to unless they really improved the current draw in the final light.

Most people are also only going to run it for short bursts as well with the thermal step down in place. The only time the cells needing to handle the full current is a real concern are those that disable the thermal stepdown and plan to run it for extended periods. These are the people that should know enough to plan for that.

Yes, I have a dozen kits incoming. I will need to check the list, I might have 1 kit left that is not spoken for. You can send me a PM if you are interested. After this there will not be any more kits, already taken almost 2 months to get these lol.

Do you know if this coupon price will be the lowest ever? Or would they offer flash-sales and new discounts during holidays that’ll knock the price even more?

Can’t say, I don’t expect it to go much lower if it did but banggood has screwed over manufactures more then a few times by dumping old stock at cost and really hurting the market.

That is always a possibility but as a sanctioned price, I don’t anticipate much lower then this if at all, particularly anytime soon. For the time being they will have issues keeping up with demand.

Yeah, I mean $290 seems very fair for the amount of engineering and materials that went into this light. This is a niche light after-all.

The combo kit with 8x VTC6 cells and a Miboxer C4-12A charger is now available from this link using the same coupon code:

The code also takes $110 off the kit.

I only live 2.5 hours from VOB. I think I see the beam from this light from my house.

If you know Morse code, send him a message and tell him to hurry up with the review!

Seconded!

Matt’s review is up! I’d post the YT link but I’d probably get it wrong. The light is crazy, I want to order one now, but I’m afraid it will come in dinged to heck like his did

Matt measured 32,000 lumen, that is 8000lm OTF per led, well driven to say the least :sunglasses:

If no stories appear of leds unsoldering themselves, the GT4 should be a great succes!

The million dollar question. Can it run on Turbo without stepping down?

Yes, I already tested this on the prototype and it should not be changed. If you disable the thermal stepdown it can run until LVP without damage. Be aware that it can get up to 90c+ depending on ambiant temps and airflow, so do not touch it light this but the internals were all fine and within rated temps when I checked it.

Wow, just watched the review, really surprised that he got 32k lumens out of it.

That confirms the prototype had lowered binned LED’s, there is no way it was hitting 32k lumens but I kinda suspected this.

Very cool, they could bump up the rated lumens to 30k in this case.

Also looks like they took the spring suggestions to reduce resistance which helped as well.

That’s insane! I was trying to decided if I wanted the MF05 but now its think this is going to be my new toy lol

They will get the shipping sorted out, that is an easy fix, I sent them a message about this as well. This kind of thing happens a lot, it is just usually caught before it goes on sale. Part of why they sent out review units before the light is for sale actually. We had similar issues with the GT or GT70 as well but they sorted it out.
