This is Jane Li from KeepPower Technology.
There are some words that KeepPower use wrong cells in their protected 14500 and 18500 li-ion battery recently,
regarding this issue, here is the official statements released by KeepPower.
100% ? I’m afraid only if you check yourself would you ever know. Keeppower has said only 14500 and 18500 are affected (that they know of at this time). So according to keeppower your 18650s should be fine. Of course keeppower only discovered these mislabeled 14500 and 18500 from customers who posted pictures. 14500 , 18500
Battery shrinkwrap $1.18 for 2 meters. Black, clear & other colors available. $0.84 for 1 meter. You could even reapply the keeppower label under new clear shrinkwrap. 18650 wrap will shrink down to fit 14500 but the result will be a little thicker then if you use the wrap meant for 14500.
Yes, I am very sure the KeepPower 18650 3400mAh battery use a genuine Panasonic NCR18650B cell.
This problem only occurred in KeepPower protected 14500 and 18500 battery and will never happen again.
Honestly this bothers me. Your blaiming the distributors / sellers for any of your mislabeled batteries sold to us. Can you know they weren’t sent to sellers who ordered sanyo? And even if the seller ordered DLG, your battery label told them they had sanyo. You shouldn’t suggest “deliberate action” on the sellers part.
This was bound to happen when you have two version of the same product “for different customers” (meaning dumb enough to not notice the very small label difference ?) with almost invisible cosmetic difference, this is definitely a widely used scam technique punishable by law.
Make the difference between the two versions very clear if you want to be viewed as a high quality reliable battery company. Instead use two very different label (different color and name) to avoid confusion between different quality product… It would also help avoiding your workers making labelling mistakes…
Unknown00101, its very unlikely they could verify it & “deliberate action” shouldn’t be mentioned unless they do verify it.
Omega_17, have to agree. People have mentioned they had no idea there even was a version with a chinese cell. Presumed they were getting sanyo since HKJ tested the sanyo version.
Even the with new 840mAh labels the difference is too easy to miss. Change the labels. It should have never been so close in the first place!
What of your customers ?
Are we a part of the Keeppower family ?
As representatives for Keeppower have stated, actions are what you want to be judged upon.
Problem with that, is I see little to nil ownership for the actions that have already happened!
If you desire to fix the health of your baby, you need to take appropriate measures and now.
I’ve suggested a group buy through Illumination Supply (naturally only if they are interested in dealing with you still) as they have defended you.
Offer deals upon your entire range that have not been seen before.
Give those that have brought from you before a reason to buy and confirm this mistake has been corrected.
Give new customers reason to try your items and possibly become a future repeat customer.
Or just ignore all of this and watch your baby die due to not caring for it when it needed you to provide it special attention.
Most of the actions are behind the scenes.
What can the end users like myself notice beyond a minor label change that is realistically going to be easily misread when they’re labelled in the factory ?
There is no big change, nothing that installs confidence in your product again for end users and nothing to really encourage us to start buying your product.
I do have to admit, I appreciate you willing to face questions in this forum though, it is much better than ignoring the problem and us entirely.
Edited to correct chance to change - Keeppower, this is how you correct a mistake, openly and honestly
So.. if we tell you the name of dealers that sold "accidentally mislabeled" cells.. how do we know that you wont just sacrifice and badmouth them to look better and hide your mistake?
I thought that their statement made sense until the very last part:
.
I found this statement interesting. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that they are telling the truth, but threatening people who are saying negative things about your company usually has the opposite intended effect and just gives more attention to what people are saying, regardless of whether it’s true or false. They should have just stuck to the facts with their press release IMHO.
