HI there. I’m considering getting an Olight S30, but want to do an emitter swap on it. Has anyone seen it in person? Can it be modded? Is it easy to get to the LED?
Any information would be appreciated.
emitter swap is quite easy, just unscrew the top cap. There was no glue on my sample.
I had swap my emitter to xpl v6 3d.

Are all S series Olights that easy to mod?
Nope… only S30. The others use screw-in reflector and you have to push the whole set of pill + reflector from the bottom. S30 is integrated head (no pill).

Just got my ti. No glue. Stock XML board is copper. A tir optic is 3-4mm shorter. You can fill the gap with a couple stacked mpcbs but I don’t have the time and desire. I am just using Dc-fix and am getting good results. I’ll pop a Nichia 219C in here. It fits around a 20mm board too, so you could do a triple conversion with a spacer.
A note about the mod. The stock board is around 20mm ( might be an annoying 19.5mm or something) and is nice solid copper. I didn’t check if it was a direct thermal board.
It also has a large slot cut into it to fit a screw in the flashlight body. The screw does not hold the board down, I assume it holds the pill in. I didn’t want to check. Any board you put in there (or a spacer for a triple) needs to account for that screw. I didn’t want to bother so just reflowed a 4C XML2 on stock board with some DC fix for the lens. The result is good. I’m happy for now. Might try cutting a slot into a 16mm noctigon at some point.

Copper board is good news, and reflowing a 4C might be in my project…if/when GB send my S30
Then the S30 and S30Ti are different. I measured the inner diameter (for MPCB) of my S30 = 18.0 mm.
I didn’t measure mine. Just took a 20mm board to see if it could fit. You are likely correct on the size. In any case I have a normal s30 on the way and will take a look.
