Ordered Nitecore Tiny Monster TM11 V 1.12-1111 - What protected 18650 fit?

Newbie here!! I have had many $50 Coast flashlights and mag lights…. Finely getting a real flashlight!!

Order Nitecore Tiny Monster TM11 V 1.12-1111 from Gunsafari.com and ordered Panasonic NCR18650A batteries (non-protected, i think) from Orbtronic.com. Will these batteries work with this flash light? Manual said no to non-protected.

Batteries:
18650 3100mAh Panasonic Industrial Li-ion Battery Cell NCR18650A

If not, what should I order. Flashlight has shipped and on it way….

Please advise.

Do you mean ncr18650a?

The ones you posted the link for will work just fine, I have the TM11 too.

Welcome Aboard!

Those should work. Most people (including that company) are going to recommend protected cells for the extra safety but in my opinion if you are careful you will be fine. What I do in my multicell lights is only use batteries of similar capacity/resistance and then replace the batteries at 3.6 volts.

OK, so I misspoke :open_mouth: those batteries will NOT work in the TM11, I just tried those and they are not long enough to operate the light. You’ll need to use the longer protected Li-Ions. It’s been awhile since I had to open up the light and re-charge the batteries, I actually have TrustFire 2400’s in it and they do work perfectly.

What do you think about these?

Trustfire better?

The Orbtronic will certainly be better than the Trustfire. Have a look at HJK’s battery test summary, or his comparator.

Basically any of the 3100mAh Panasonic cells will be good. The cheapest I’ve found are Keeppower, from this seller. He accepted a $42 bid for 4 cells from me ( and might go lower). Got them reasonably fast (thought the seller is away until 19th June).

The Cell itself is good, the real question would be the length of the cell, as the TM11 doesn’t like real long cells either, it is picky about length of batteries. Genuine TrustFire’s are good cells, Panasonics yes are better, as are Sanyo & Samsung. There is a review over on CPF that shows some of the problems with different lengths cells for the TM11, you might want to browse over there too.

I just tried a set of Xtars in the TM11, they are too long.

Woops! I don’t have the Xtars, but the Keeppower ones are also long (check HJK’s review - he lists the sizes in his table at the start of the review.

Welcome to the family, TinyMonster!

Unfortunately most sellers who sell Nitecore are hiding 18650 battery requirements that are clearly printed in user manual.
Nitecore is making things even worse>> not all TM11 are made with the same inner measurements (quality control-or different manufacturing process).

In general long 18650 batteries 68-69mm will work with TM11.

Aloha and welcome to BLF TinyMonster!

Just got ( 8 ) of these ……. Wow big difference …… Powerful, strong, and they look HOT……. Incredibly well built $24.71 for 2 units !!!

Flashlight/s model name would be useful info too.
