Pretty beat up pair of green 18650's with just a paper label kind of like this ^ .. although my label says
IMR18650 2500mAh 3.7V
I did what any average good upstanding citizen would do and picked them up off the ground to add to my bag of dead batteries that are heading to be recycled that happens to be in my car.
But as any true Flashaholic would do I had to put them on the tester to see what the true story was .
Cell #1 had 4.06v and a internal resistance of(12 mΩ)
Cell #2 was 4.08 and (32 mΩ)
What do you think ?
would you use them /toss them or sell them to a friend ?
Whenever I get a no name cell, I usually test its capacity (out of pure curiosity), and then discharge it and toss it. I have plenty of brand name cells, so I don’t feel the need to keep the unknown ones in circulation.
This looks like a Sony VTC5… A very decent high drain cell if genuine. If they are not damaged, it could be worth putting them to test in a charger - in a safe way as mentioned above, just in case.
And weight them to check with other cells weight. Low quality cells are usually noticeably lighter.
It also makes sense to stick a label on a VTC because there’s nothing written on them - or so barely readable. This most certainly comes from a vape shop. How they ended up on the street can only be guessed. Some mod user just lost the spares he was carrying? He/she’s probably missing them.
peel the sticker and look for printing.
the sticker is for shipping regulations.
i also suspect sony vtc5.
nice for a high drain light like a well driven triple.
as for safety i would have no problem using those.
