Well, button tops are a bit more and buying from the US is also a bit more. Buying locally is a convenience and buying with button tops already applied (versus doing a solder blob yourself) is a convenience. Your convenience is someone else’s work, which they should get paid for, which is why that stuff costs more. So, just go ahead and buy those flat tops. There’s no shame in that!
For everyone else in the US, there’s RobertB’s group buy @ $23.40 for four button top 30Q’s shipped.
Will check patmurris, indeed a list update is due, tonight
Salty goddess, now there is a sound
Yes since the output tests were with only the bigger spring (love how my phone suggests “spring” more often now ) making contact thus just one bigger then current should do it, Thorfire replied this is possible, yay
I see it's been posted many times that the LK 500 costs $20, but that's the "bare" version from GearBest. With a US plug, it's $26.50 (not in stock) at BG, and $27 at GB (only 7 left).
So, what does the bare charger come with? Does it only come with a car (12V) adapter?
I think part of it is the human mentality of “I found it for this great price on clearance and used all my points and bought it for half what it lists for, so that’s what it ‘normally’ sells for.”
But I did just find it on AliExpress on the liitokala Official Store
Just charger - $18
Charger with AC wall wart $21
Charger with wall wart and car adapter $22
Maybe that is it? If someone has unused power supplies laying around it makes sense I guess. But the average person who may be just getting into this probably does not.
Anyway, check out M4DM4X Tom. Some good codes there to.
FWIW, last week I read a post from someone who had a crappy experience with that particular AE store you mentioned L-R-u. I’ll find a link to it & post in a minute.
Edit: OK, I found the post. HERE is the link to the post. Then read down several more posts for a bit more info.
Valid? Not valid?? I have no idea….
It did seem to lack much real info……
But I’m just the messanger… decide on your own.
………… EDIT #2:Nevermind… it looks like it is a different store.
Tom, the Liitokala store on Ali sells them for a better price.
Bare so just the charger $16-$18 (defending on season max/normal seems to be 18)
About $3 more if one needs a wall adapter like LRU links to so $20 is feasible.
And heck yeah when I see a “deal” price I see that as a price vendors still make a profit and max price I want to pay
Points and such I do not take into account.
I have 3 Lii-500”s & the last one I bought was from Aliexpress for $14 delivered no power supply either wall wart or 12v car & no points or coupons used…
I bought it as a spare as I have power supplies with my first 2 but I bought a cheap wall wart for under $3 delivered from Ebay UK that works perfectly fine with it so my 3rd Lii-500 cost $17 total including a power supply.
Well, I trust those are real pictures of TK we see here.
And, hmmm, I’m in the devil-may-care response numbers “666x”
maybe it’s time I changed my avatar …
“Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce” ill take some of that too, liking it hot, though when you are crying and gasping for air feeding get less enjoyable.
My friend and his sister grow their own chilies, not the MEGA strong ones but still ones where you wish you had a half gallon of milk near by. we have our own little thing going looking at each other as we nibble thru a grilled chilli looking for who will throw in the towel first.
O and we grill all year, actually the past 10 - 15 new-years evenings we gotten grill food, even if my friend have to stand in the garden in minus 10 degrees while cooking.
We also grill on “camping” trips or our walks with the little RC 4 x 4 trucks, or while fishing basically any reason to break out the grill and we jump on it.
Just adding my two cents. I really can’t think of anywhere else in the world where you have a bunch of very clever enthusiasts pooling their knowledge, to have something built which blows away the competition in that range and at that price. Huge output on good cells and that Narsil firmware, what’s not to like? We’re talking $40 here right? Not $140, or $240. I think this light even without the springs being changed looks amazing. I’m sure Thorfire wont want to do many more revisions and produce prototypes, at the end of the day they need to get this into production to make money, and it’s just about ready now. I think the ever growing list for people wanting it speaks volumes. We could talk/test for months on end, tweaking this and that, but most of the people on here (not me I’m afraid) could easily mod this light to what they would like, without it arriving from Thorfire to that persons spec. I think the work gone in to this from the team is exemplary; kudos guys. I’ve just seen the water test and I’m amazed it lasted that long as I dropped a SRK into a river for less than 5 seconds and it’s dead. So yet another reason to love this light, and not something I expected. I think once the team get a reply from Thorfire about the springs (maybe they’ve already bought them in, maybe they can supply thicker longer ones, maybe it’s cheaper for them to shorten the tube) they should go with that and get this cheap as chips SRK/TM killer into production. You could always look at a BLF Q8 version 2 once this has been out a while and people can say what they’d like changed for that version.
