Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Please Add me for 1

I know its too late for the Q8, but i was thinking on a lager extreme flashlight, couldn’t you use heat pipes to get heat off a hot spot to a place where it can better be dissipated.

Just thinking out loud here.

I was thinking maybe make a bundle with the Q8 and a 1 foot handle that screw onto it, and you would have like a light powered Mjölnir of flashlights.

These high powered SRK's will get super hot, with thermal and timed stepdown disabled. Here's what an M6 did to a towel when left on for up to 40 minutes wrapped in the towel:

The marks are permanent. This one did close to 5,000 lumens on 3 LED's, but long before the lockout and stepdown features were implemented. The metal switch was so hot, I had to poke at it to turn the light off. Took quite some time to cool off to be able to touch it. There was no damage I could determine - not to the cells, the LED's, the driver - nothing. I believe our copper Direct Thermal Path LED boards, quality thermal grease, combined with heavy gauge wiring and bypasses on springs all helps in preventing damage.

The Q8 will be factory default with a timed stepdown at 3 minutes. It also has a safety feature if the button is held down for 20 seconds, the main LED will be turned off and lockout will be set automatically.

Some of the better protected GAs (with high quality protection circuits that cut off around 10A) should perform well in the Q8.

Though as long as you monitor unprotected cells voltage before and after use, and follow the usual li-ion safety guidelines, you should have no issues with unprotected.

This protected GA cell is 12A-13A rated. Excellent protection circuit (PC) - tests in a Q8 proto results were not much less than unprotected GA's.

Too bad they are out of stock though. Protected cells are all about the protection circuit - there's some good ones, many bad ones. These guys use a Seiko PC that rates higher amps that the GA cell itself.

Here is a link to what Dale is referring to when he says “Li-ion 101”.

Read, study, & most of all…… understand it.

It might just save your arse……

Did the Supfire burned pigments in the towel, showing white cotton burned golden brown?

Dunno - it is a solid black towel, the best I could tell. The burn marks seem to go down the fibers, but not the base material. I still have and use the towel.

FNG here, in for one. Thanks- exciting stuff!

I do not like the three blade tailcap. I think you should do a survey to see what is the preferred tailcap of people, thanks.

Welcome to BLF!
Will update the list later

Sorry asked for “Mortal Combat 3 bladed tailcap” no poll.

Interesting that it is not put to a popular vote and you decided unilaterally. We not have an approximate sale date yet? 1 month, 2 months, 3 years

Yes again sorry, got the idea 3 bladed was liked, and well maybe seeing that polished Tom work made me fall for it myself, so I announced we would ask for it and didn’t hear a “no, please the other” so did.
I must be more of a dicatator then I thought

Okay, It´s clear to me that I have no voice or vote in this, do not worry about it, I assume this.

Let’s go to the important thing …

We still have not the slightest idea of an approximate sale date?

Thanks greetings.

Don’t worry about it Miller. The 3 bladed tailcap looks really good.

It will be done when it’s done. If you’re bother by the wait, just buy another light in the meantime…

At the moment, I think we are not in any dictatorship, and I can ask what I like ask, thanks for your interest …

If you do not like what I ask, you can go to answer to another thread, thanks

Miguel, yes I try to give all a voice and sorry you feel you have none.
This is preference, taste and I looked and could not find a pic of the tailcap with three blades in black.
A poll would thus mean I have to show the bare 3 blade, and black anodized 4 blade. this is a recipe for confusion, so in this case more then apologies I cannot offer.
I hope the fact that the tail is literally furthest away from the business end of the Q8 and usually the bottom of a light is least seen helps a little.

Whem I saw the “triple leg or blade” design I thought it was cool but its presence or absence is in no way a decision point for me. I did have to look twice though because every time I see a design along those lines I think of the three legged Isle of Man symbol (triskele?). Wouldn’t that look sharp!

 …not a serious suggestion … just having fun
