It isn’t just a matter of the Q8. Thorfire could use it as a starting point for other products. For example, a double length battery tube, xhp emitters, and revisions to the driver and for little additional cost they’d have a rival for some of the high performance torches from their competitors.
Someone asked about battery life in lockout mode, so I measured. Just like any other mode with the LEDs off, it rests at 5mA for about 6 seconds and then drops down to virtually nothing. Any time the button is pressed, it goes back to 5mA and stays there for 6 seconds until it goes back to sleep.
So, if you were to hold the button nonstop, it should last for about 100 days in lockout mode. But in normal circumstances, it should last for several decades. The parasitic drain is lower than the battery’s self-discharge, so leaving them in the Q8 (with the indicator LED off) isn’t much different than leaving them on a shelf.
well this is on the BG website, still says pre-order though. So 500 only?

That’s only displayed on the desktop version of banggood’s site. Unfortunately I can only log in on my phone via the mobile version (which sucks as bad as ebay’s mobile version). Why do vendors think larger images and text and fields of wasted space for small screens is good?
