very nice, inverted SRK bezel
I asked Thijsco for some tiny thingies and think we have our bezel!
Great project. I’m in for 2 units.
Looking good Tom, PD!
If it is not too late, it would be good to relocate C2, add pads for a series resistor to the FET gate and add pads for a clamping zener diode across C2. Just in case…you just know people are going to do upgrades…
(C2 has too much inductance between it and the MCU. I would suggest placing it just south of the MCU and connecting with short, thick tracks between pins 8 and 4. C2 should have routing priority to any other component.)
+1 also like plus the logic makes sense notched or diamond
Can these boards be shared in public ?
I mean the oshpark link , even without the thorfire website .
Bezel is for holding glass o ring and reflector
Reflector outer size same as triple/quad etc srk
No hole
Led DTP stars directly on integrated shelf
Current srk reflectors can be used but may require removing some material for space for wires
Q8 reflector can used in srk but may require drilling hole(s)

Boards are available on OSHPark just as shown, its where we ordered them

Yeah I can do that when I get time
The current board is on Oshpark, but I’d rather remove the Thorfire name before anyone else orders it
It would be great
Thanks PD !
In for two, please.
Well I would prefer a clean round bezel without ANY cutouts! Firstly to avoid any influence to the beam/spill (I HATE lights with a bezel that influences the light beam) and secondly to clearly distinguish the light from the cheap SRKs that all have that big ugly bezel.
Also, I´d love to see this light without standard black anodization (not another black light can…) but more a classy, matte (maybe brushed) metal look.
Justmy2cents!
CU,
K.

Yea, I'll probably order more too for my own SRK mods, but I'd wait a couple of days. We're talk'n about DEL's recommendations right now, but not sure yet what's goin on. Also very little testing in on this design. I gotta build up the other 2 boards, and if they are working rock solid, I'd feel better, but again, might be making some tweaks.

By moving it south, you want it closer to pin #8, correct? And that can allow the shortest trace possible to pin #4?
Please specify what the zener would do, because if it's for 2S+ cells, then an LDO should be used. If it's for improvement of the 1S circuit (like in Richards' new board), that's something different.
Also not sure of why/purpose of the series resistor to the FET gate.
I have the same question with you Tom , about the R-fet resistor .
Another idea is to use cutouts on the bezel like the thorfire logo. So put a circle over the thorfire logo and you have the cutouts. Its not symmetric but unique.
What about my idea?
I think DEL and I are singing from the same hymn sheet. Maybe a three way PM ?
Yea, you're right. I'll kick it off...

That’s creative and could prove very nice for Thorfire to implement as a brand feature
Will email it to Barry no matter what gets chosen
Artifacts in a floody beam is a genuine concern
I am having an idea to counter it but have to whip up my fabulous kolourpaint skills ROFLOL to show it come back to this later
Hey I put type 2 anodization in the specslist because…
Put it on the stove and have it turn
Black red orange copper platinum grey
HA3 does not let us do that.
We did not hear anything about this but I think type 2 is also a bit cheaper to produce.
Ps: for the tripod mount to be perfect, the flat needs to be level with the fins.
So e.g. a Manfrotto or ARCA Swiss plate will fit, and the depth of the screw hole should be enough that the screw doesn’t bottom out.
Ps: Manfrotto plates still use 1/4 Whitworth, I’ve measured them, on a shadowgraph
Edit: and if the flat also has the anti-rotation hole, even better.
There is a flat area for tripods now, this should be enough since a whole flattened side bit only takes away good looks it also removes cooling capacity and since we know more will want a flashlight with the best cooling solution then there are people having a tripod that does not fit the current layout I hope you understand this is about it when it comes to facilitate tripods
About a small hole next to the threaded hole now that should he doable.
but only if there is a standard distance that fits and no double Windsor wobbly size or Monty Python fish finicking
All madness and joking aside if we locate the threaded hole so that the stabilising pin just sits in the first fingroove would that be a smart solution not needing another production step?
About the bezel… how about holes rather then dents? A string of small holes running around the bezel, a few mm from the front…
Like Uf1405/1504 style? Hmm
