Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Ok everyone - move along now, lights have started arriving, nothing to see here, time to get active on another design thread and make sure there is pressure an incentive for our slaves design team to get cracking on the next project.

Lantern is a nice idea, just sayin’

Already have - just a few mins ago they are asking for FW3A firmware... No break.

Banggood site currently says 1445 pre orders…
I get the feeling they will be happy to engage in more blf projects!

I would love to know how many blf a6/astrolux S1 and blf x5-x6/ astrolux S2-S3s’ they have sold since they were released. Add to that the number of members of this website that regularly purchase items from their website and I have little doubt that they love the blf.

I almost quit flashlights when I added up my purchases at a few stores. Spent over $3000 at Banggood since my first purchase there… and they aren’t the highest!

+1 - I got 125 orders from BG since Feb 2014. If they were $25 each, that's $3,100. Add in GearBest, TMART, MtnE of course, CNQ, FastTech, Kaidomain, Ali, eBay, Amazon, dhgate, WallBuys, Manafont, DX, Illumn, intl-outdoors, flashlightlens, IMRBatteries, LiionWholesalers, and several more I can't recall or one offs...

Just looked, 119 orders at BG alone. I do not dare adding up the money :person_facepalming:

Hmmmm. 34 in 25 months for me. But some had multiple items.

I got my Q8 too. Im in Australia, and I paid around $3 for priority shipping.

I know I’m preaching to the choir but this is by far the most fun I’ve had with a flashlight ever. It feels just enough hefty and strong, the beam is gorgous, and my GOD, the ramping is amazing. I just cant stop playing with the ramping. Having a flashlight without ramping feels like going to the stone ages and being forced to use a blunt stone for everything, its SO archaic.

Huge thanks to the Q8 team, its completely blown past my expectations

How many steps are there in the Ramping feature of the Q8?

If I remember correctly it was 150 steps, not including moon mode.

It feels REALLY smooth to me TBH, but maybe thats because I havent been exposed to ramping brightness in flashlights ever.

Yes, 150. Number was based on time. Every 16 msecs one level is bumped, so to get thru 150 levels, it takes 150x16 = 2.4 seconds, plus some pause time after moon, which allows you to more easily stop at moon mode when ramping from OFF.

Glad to hear you like it!!

I too have found ramping to make everything else obsolete. Used to dislike side e-switches, now look for them so I can use ramping. ToyKeeper changed the game with the reversing mechanical clicky and if it weren’t for that I’d truly be lost. Can’t stand a light that has to be cycled to turn it off.

So yeah, Huge Kudo’s to Tom and Del for working out this firmware so it speaks to us all… well done!

My worst pet peeve is hold to off. I don’t want to turn the light off in 3 seconds, I want to shut it off now… I’m looking at you Skilhunt H03.
Turning on the light and turning off the light should always be 1 click. I don’t care what I have to do once its on, but I want it on or off right now.

It also looks like they went back using countersunk screws for the driver. That will be the first thing i change!

Gratz to the ppl already recieving the q8

My tracking number still shows nothing…

But i am not envious! Not at all… :weary:

That looks like panhead to me. Maybe take a closer look?

Now I can’t tell if the dark area below the head is a shadow or a reflection.

Maybe someone can tell us?

I can count the money I spent on flashlights and stuff for them but I don’t want :person_facepalming:
It started with a cheap Ebay zoomie in early 2014, then an SH98 18650, and after that the Convoy C8 and S2+. That two make me doomed.

It is a countersunk:

I got that picture under control now Tom

Whoa da - please get that down to a reasonable size. Oh boy, yes, they want back to counter sunk, like in round 2:

This is 800 wide. 800-1000 wide isn't so bad. Postage stamps, and my 59 year old eyes don't do well.

I am really glad to see how clean the production units are, least so far. The protos were pretty messy on the boards, for example. WHat you see in my pic above is the glue from gluing down the plastic rings, but still, overall lot of sloppiness with the the early protos.
