I read few reviews for this FL. But I could not find info how lumens drop over time (step down).
Do you maybe know if such graph exist in this thread or in any other online reviews?

I’m not sure, but I could make a crude graph tonight if you like.

For the runtime test I used a stock Q8 from the second production run (just cleaned some contact points), with freashly charged 30Q’s.

I did two runtime tests, one of 10 minutes with timer stepdown at 3 minutes (the Q8 comes default like this), one much longer with temperature stepdown set pretty high (head too hot to touch but my infrared thermometer reads 55 degC).

I have no time for a graph now but here’s the crude data:

The timer stepdown seems to do good things, but with the temperature stepdown I do not know exactly why my Q8 behaves like it does. In words this is what happens:

*in the default timer stepdown my Q8 is basically at max for 3 minutes (while dropping from 5560lm to 4970lm, this is 11% drop), then it steps down to 1150lm and stays there. The light never gets close to too hot too hold (max=44degC), I think the timer could safely be set at 5 minutes and it will still just about be managable for my hands.

*after changing to temperature stepdown with fixing the threshold when measuring the head at 55degC, from switch-on the light stayed at max for 6 minutes (4700lm and 59degC at 6 minutes), dropped first to 2700lm for a minute, then to 1550 for 30 seconds, then to 820 lm and stayed at 820lm forever with the temperature gradually dropping (after 50 minutes 730lm and 39degC).

It looks like the temperature stepdown for me is less ideal than just a timer stepdown at 5 minutes, so I will keep the timed stepdown on this one.

Ordered the light on 10/13 and it’s out for delivery now on 10/30! should I got outside and wait for the mailman lol
This is actually pretty quick… only took just about 17 days considering it’s from CN to US

I let my grandson turn the Q8 on, he’s 1 1/2, his little finger pushed the button over sideways and got the center post off the switch, same thing… was a bit of a chore getting it back into position but that showed me really quick what’s been happening with a few of these lights.

If that was your way to subtlety suggest I have a mind of a 1 1/2 yr old then thanks for trying. As I’m usually just told flat out I’m a total idiot!

Hhmm, must have missed this - no idea that was happening. I've seen worse though with an MT03 II. The mechanical switch itself has a fairly high standing post - other switches have a much lower flatter switch post, but the ones I've seen don't have a solid sound to a click like the Q8's do.

But again, there may be pros/cons, but this getting stuck issue is probably on account of this switch's high post.

Oh, now I understand how some are dis-locating the button by trying to slide forward or aft or pressing top vs bottom, instead of a simple straight down click & hold. Glad you got it back to normal.

If your button isn’t setting level to begin with, it may be that the switch pcb is not properly seated into the small recess, all the way, causing everything to be tilted. Mines level.

It makes sense pushing forwards for higher and back for low, there is obky one button behind the cover in the Q8 however , glad it was sorted out.

For me, when the people with issues are happy it is time to ask what BG and TF think about the project so nothing is asked yet

OHHH I was outside to test and tune my car for a few runs then I came back home with mailman driving up to me and hand me my package!!! That was awesome timing there.

I just did a quick look around the body and inside the light. Thing is perfectly crafted, I see no nicks or scratches on it. And WOW!! This thing is much smaller than I though too, I thought it will be the same size as my MF01 or MT03.

Well I figured out you can just pinch it, pull up and sorta re-seat it it seems. Nobody commented that there are any negatives with this, I hope I’m right? (havent had the time with the same light and pliars at the same time since its supposed to be a gift and not mine)

Also, it doesnt take pushing up or down to unseat in this one light, just some slight upwards or downwards angle to the press, or maybe, upwards/downwards vector over time. I’ve actually found its relatively easy to unseat on the one light, especially since its so heavy and when you are holding it trying not to drop with a finger vs thumb hold, its easy to have some forward or backwards vector vs gravity into the press and get it to unseat.

No but if pinching the original ruins it, one has a spare, also one could shorten the little central stud to see if that makes a difference

I’m trying to set moonlight level from the ramping config, but I can’t see any difference. Is there a special moonlight mode or is it just the lowest value of the ramping? If the latter, I don’t see any difference.

It's the lowest ramping level, but only if you ramp up from OFF. Ramping down to the lowest is always a value of 3. A value of 2 works nice, 1 is almost undetectable - I've seen it glow the LEDs slightly. Values of 4-7 will brighten it up.

moon level 3 is default and lowest of ramping
turn on with long press enters the own set moon, so set it to 1 and it could not even light up, 2 will be faint, 7 brighter
funny thing is that if you set your moon higher then 3 you can start in moon with long press from on and when you start ramping it will be a bit dimmer to get to the default moon.
