Oh SNAP! That SS LT looks fabulous with the copper Cyros! Ugggggh! Killin me!
Probably looking at a Luminus SST-40 quad or https://www.pflexpro.com/Nichia-219-quad-Drop-In-p/p60-quad-4up-ap.htm in XPL HI V3-3A I do my quads and triples in a SolarForce P1D host as it’s about 20 grams heavier than the rest. Cryo heads still fit these and help even more. 10+ amp switches a must.
Pulled the X6 flamed pics down, just wanted you to see them Dale, but do want to stay on topic, there’s a lot of good info on this thread so trying to keep it clean.
That was the most beautiful X6 you built and would really love to see mine looking like that someday…
I did that one for Slow2Go, it really did come out pretty amazing. The problem with anodizing Titanium though is that if the light is used the color fades back to silver over time. Normally it’s not a big deal to re-do it, but the Tritium vials add a level of complexity there…
Anyone remember the Jacobs A60? How about the Solarforce M8? The Jacobs was a clone I believe, and a poorly done one at that. I LOVE the M8, baked mine and this showed that it really is a Type III Military Grade hard coat as it simply wouldn’t go the reddish hues of the Type II in the oven. Instead, it came out a near olive drab… a perfect compliment to the stenciled styling of the M8 logo. With the elongated copper finned pill section from Bucket and an MT-G2 emitter, this will remain a treasured favorite light for years to come.
My Baked and Copperized M8 pictured here with a light Bucket made completely from scratch, even the reflector! He was inspired by making the copper pill for this light, set out to make his own.
Very very nice Dale, got to love olive ! That quad L2x is special as well.
Haha possible T18, although i dont really bother much(been a few years). Torches i can read about and look at pics all day, subarus as much as i like them……………not so much!
texas shooter, fwiw I always use mini omtens in virtually everything I build. I didn’t have a problem with them until I built my triple 70.2 and current went up over 34A at the tail. In that light, current was so high the components got hot enough to melt the plastic housing around them and seize them up! I had to find a Tofty switch in one of my other lights and make a switch over. At this level, the side switch lights really begin to show advantage, I have one doing nearly 60A and another close to 90A. Don’t know of a mechanical switch that could work in those two!
mmalive, I haven’t messed with a P60 drop-in for several years. I might have one or two here that were in the kit I bought from Old-Lumens a couple of years ago, think I do… one I know that’s in one of those little clear plastic holders they ship in. Let me see what I can find in this mess of mine…
Edit: Ok, here’s what I found…
1. An original Solarforce module with XM-L2 U2 emitter, 3 modes, 2.7-9V capability for one or two cells. I don’t think this one’s ever been used at all, might not have even been taken out of the case.
2. What appears to be a Solarforce drop in but without a driver/emitter. It has a smooth reflector and it has the o-ring as well as the spring but no brass holder. I can make one in either brass or copper, shouldn’t be a big deal. (closer inspection makes me wonder if the reflector is an Solarforce item, the straight walled section at the lip is longer than the other two.)
3. A mirror finish reflector and brass pill without the o-ring or the spring, no driver or emitter.
With the one “free” brass pill I can use it to match up to when making one.
These bits have been here two years already, since before Justin passed away, I really have no use for them so if you want them you can have them. I can make a copper pill and build a driver and use whatever emitter today’s tech throws at us.
There you go Dale now you can go buy the L2T S.S. and a Cryos head and well whatever else, if your health is good, shoulder healed up some then you should be making parts like this and making you some money with all that skill, seriously, like my Ti X6, I ain’t thinking you’ll build it for me for FREE… !
Your a great and generous guy and you do a lot for folks but you can start charging as well for some of the things you can build with that gift of a lathe, there is a reason you have that beast and your skills with it have really gone to the top fast, you were the perfect person for that machine, big time…
Edit: Just a bit to much
Haha T18 , no problem. I know a little, but by no mean as much as many on here. I cant argues its fun and an interest for me, but they are also tools i use. Granted some more than others, have specific beater lights that i dont care if get dinged and dented. My more expensive still get used, just not in risky applications(like up in the air 20+ft) or climbing up/down steel ladders with it in hand.
The p60 format has kept my interest over the years, solarforce was the first lights i got on the journey. L2T/SSL2T x2, L2P/P1/P1D iirc. But that led onto a slippery slope of surefire which i by far my fav. 6p at first and c2’s, followed by more of and then the E series. Its just the classic designs, great HA ano i like so much, of course with the benefit of p60 flexibility(exl the E series unless use an adaptor). But i like the E as is, smaller and compact. Tana triple in one, tana singLED in the other…………love them.
Subaru wise, i just beat around in an old WRX. Trouble now with the new family member(cane corso bitch)i need a boot! So all kinds are being pondered right now, maybe next year the subura will turn in to a legacy spec B or ………….Had the WRX for 4yrs+ and been a good solid motor, would defo have another subaru .
Hi Dale, What can you do to ” soup up ” the SF SS LT2? To the highest standard possible? I would gladly pay for your services. I really like the brass 2 tone set up as well.
For other member that do mods for SF. I am interested please advise if you can help. Would hire you guys for job. Many Thanks, Doug
Thanks Ven, I’m set now…
What ever happened to FiveMega? I have a couple of his P60 tubes, Loved the fine tacky knurling on them.
Cool T18, enjoy .
5mega is still around afaik, he is on CPF and has done some cool 6p options in the last 12m or so. I have one of his cooly lights, p60 host but 26650 fed.
Hmmm I don’t see him on the CPF Modders List and i can’t find his website?

I asked last year if he would consider 20700/21700 P60 host but he thought there would be too little interest.

Yep, I see he is still active, seen the old threads and tried some of the links, all dead ends.I can’t find his website, wanted to get the 3P body, I have 2 of the 6P bodies I bought from his website maybe a year ago. Wondering if he is dealing only on CPF now….
First impressions of the two L2T’s I got today is absolutely outstanding considering the price,
The S.S. L2T is one that I’m almost tempted to go pickup another one at the sale price they have right now. Shipping from SF was great as well, fast.
Tonight I went and ordered the P1D and L2P,
SF just hooked me good, it is a quality product and I feel that for my first trip into modular lights I’m right on track, very impressed.
I am wondering though if I could get some suggestions for 10a plus switches and vendors.?
McClicky I have but not really something I care to use.
You’d be surprised how much current the stock SF switches can handle(well over 10a with bypass) —-I’m bummed their site doesn’t sell them anymore
