REVIEW IMALENT DX80 COMPLETE.

has anyone run their DX80 on turbo till it steps down and tried to force it back into turbo ? or any other level which steps down ?

Maiden666, on your step down and runtime tests, is that at room temperature with a fan blowing or in still air?

It seems it can sustain 7,000 lumen, but only if you start out at a Turbo or Hi and let it step down on its own.

If you start at Middle High, your limited to a continuous 6,000 lumen, right?

Those would be Chinese lumens
That light is probably closer to 20,000 lumen
(My guess based on my experience with those modules)

Those would be Chinese lumens

what are Chinese lumens ? sorry noob here

before 2014, 0.5*Chinese lumens = ANSI lumens
after 2014, 0.75*Chinese lumens = ANSI lumens
it is getting better :sunglasses:

ok thanks , now im going to try not burn my toast again

Sometimes: 5 * Chinese lumens = ANSI lumens

You mean moonlight mode? :sunglasses:
Moonlight mode is actually very difficult to measure accurately. Because its value is so small, error of 5x is still small.

On my Ameili 24 x fake T6's flashlight, they marketed it as 30,000 lumens, but it seemed less lumens than my L6, so in my case it would be almost 8 * Chinese lumens = ANSI lumens. I purchased that light last year as a total noob and I'm still trying to sell it without any takers.

off topic , i sold my DX80 - i have no use for it , the area i live in has too many street lights GRRR

if you only had the option to buy ONE torch , which one would you choose ?

IMALENT DN70 looks cool , any comments ?

Basically it means “inaccurate” or “greatly exaggerated”. Like when you see an ad for a single xml-t6 light that can do 3,000 lumen. The old xml could do maybe 800 max, so it’s obviously an exaggerated output number.

When people say ansi, they mean ANSI-FL1 which is a standard for measuring output in flashlights. A lot of the better companies are using accurate specs nowadays, but some companies still use crazy made up numbers to sell their products.

thank Jason !!!

They also had a lot of reliability problems when they came out. I don’t know if they’ve made updates to make them more reliable or not. Typical gripes were about how hard it is to find the button in the dark and that the battery display is not accurate. Other than that, it seemed to be okay. I think it did do about 3,800 lumen iirc. There are several reviews in blf.

There were also issues with the driver. There was a re-release a coupe of months ago. The new version has a black tailcap instead of blue. Quickly after its release, the first video of a faulty one showed up on YouTube:

I do think (without owning one) this is a great light (if it works).

If you’re not afraid of their reliability issues, they are actually selling for very good prices right now. They’re almost selling for cost. This could be a sign that they’re trying to get rid of their inventory. I’ve seen the DN70 selling for around $50 dollars and I decided to pass on it.

the latter doesnt bother me, the former issue i also had with my DX80 . my X80 had the nice big protruding steel button
