hi

i have a DX80 and i just bought a DN70

on BOTH of them the on off buttons are very hard to find in the dark

DN70 - press the left button once to see voltage

thats not in the manual

nor is press the left button quick for temp turbo

or do i need new glasses ?

It’s been a good few weeks that I’ve owned the DX80 and so far, I’m impressed.

Functionality wise: flawless. No bugs. Recharging has been smooth, US wall wart doesn’t get abnormally hot, charges in ~3 hours as it should. Build quality, awesome. OLED display function, perfect. The more I use it, the more I find that I like it and I do believe that Imalent is on the the right track of making better quality lights. Downside: it’s heavy and throwing it in a backpack will weigh it down pretty good. It’s heavy for a reason, the 32k lumen mode runs far longer than you’d figure you’ll probably ever actually need it to and doesn’t get too hot to handle, ever at the battery grip. 5000 lumen mode runs continuously and a ~1.5 hours runtime at 5000 lumens is just crazy good. Being that it does spit out a nice wide, soft, and well colored light, it needs a tripod mount for those situations where runtimes like that could be taken better advantage of as an area/work light.

I built a pretty sleek 12v power supply for recharging the DX80 that I’ll post in the DIY thread.

my only complaint besides the weight ( yes 8 cells i know ) was the on switch is hard to locate in the dark same as the DN70

As I mentioned before, I have one emitter only half working, but overall I really like the dx80 as well. I noticed the holster for this light is not safe and out of nowhere the light turns on, even when being careful handling the holster. Having the switch lockout did not matter as it would still turn on, even when you think it there is no pressure on the switch from the holster.

That is a bummer, have you started a warranty repair on it? It’d be worth getting fixed, I think.

Yeah, the power button really is a bit too sensitive. It’s comfortable to operate when it’s in your hand and when/if you find the button in the dark but once you do, it feels great but the holster turns it on and lockout function does not work. I by habit mechanically lock it out.

Imalent said they will send me a new head if I pay for shipping to return my faulty head. I decided instead to buy another new head of Imalent and keep both.

I agree, the button is great when one is using it, but has problems otherwise. Only way to keep it safe in the holsters is the mechanical lockout.

Wow, how much did they charge you for a new head?

Wasn't cheap $120 usd including shipping. I figured if I send my head from Canada, it will probably end up costing me around $40+ just to ship it one way, so I opted to get a new one and have a spare.

Wow that’s actually not as bad as I thought it’d be.

I know. It could have been a lot more, so in that regard I thought they were quite reasonable in that it also included shipping it to me. When it arrives and I check that it works, then I could start dismantling my original head, see how it's built, what's inside and attempt to repair it. It would be a nice little project for myself.

Don't do it, it's all glued shut!!! :(((

I was in the same situation, and tried repairing it... it's all glued...

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for the tip That's quite a mess in there! At least the bezel ring is not glued as I got it off.

What was wrong with yours that made you try and repair it?

Yeah it is, the bezel is the only part not glued, after the glass everything is…

I Had the same problem, first one led half lit, and after a night use only 4 leds where still working, so I ended up ordering another head from Imalent direct for 110 usd, cause DHL asked me 80 USD to send it back for replacement ((

You got the head $10 cheaper than I did from Imalent! I've tested mine for a little while now and it appears as though a second led is starting to fail. Only on the second led, a quarter section is playing up but not fully. I wonder how many of these faulty dx80's imalent has sent out? I would have though the newer batches like mine were better, but I guess not.

I thought the same, I ordered mine in january and still ended up with a bad one :(, and the fact they make it not reparable is so disapointing… but on the the other hand I love the light

I feel the same way. I absolutely love this light and am willing to look past the faults. Lets hope the newer heads are working 100%. I ordered mine Feb-1 of this year.

My second one is working 100% after a few weeks of every night use and testing, even leting it heat up and step down.
