Packaging and content
The R70C comes in a beautiful box of hard cardboard with magnetic closure. A practical plastic handle on the upper part facilitates transport. Later on, a brief description and all the main features of the product are given.
Inside, a thick layer of polyurethane foam prevents the movements of the flashlight and accessories during transport.

Output Levels and UI
The Imalent R70C has 6 normal brightness levels (including the Turbo) + 1 Special (Strobo) divided as follows:

The measured data are to be considered peak, taken within 30 seconds from the ignition. Following the runtime curves on the "Turbo", "High" and "Middle" levels. At the beginning of the test the cells reported a voltage equal to 4.20V while at the end of the test values ??included between 2.82V and 2.84V.
The User Interface is very simple and easy to remember. Thanks to the side switch you can access all the functions of the R70C.
Power On / Off and Level Selection: To turn the flashlight on or off, just click on the side button. With the light on, holding the button down will cycle through the various levels in the order Eco-Low-Middle Low-Middle-High.
Direct access to the Turbo / Strobe: with the flashlight on, press the button twice consecutively to access the Turbo. With two more quick clicks you will switch to the special Strobo level.
Low Power Warning: With the flashlight on, when the battery falls below 3.2V the LED indicator near the switch will turn red and indicate that it is time to charge the batteries. If instead the color is Green it means that the battery is still charged and in any case not less than 3.2V.
Intelligent Thermal Control: When using the flashlight on high levels, such as Turbo, the temperature increases dramatically. When 55 ° C is reached, the flashlight automatically reduces the output to the 1500lm level, avoiding dangerous overheating and preserving the life of LEDs and electronic parts.
Memory Mode: The flashlight will remember the last level of output used except for the Turbo and Strobe levels.
Lock-out: When the R70C is off, press the power button for 3 seconds. The green light under the switch will flash 3 times indicating that the electronic lock-out has occurred correctly. Long press of 1 second to unlock the interface (also in this case the LED will flash three consecutive times)
The body and the materials
The Imalent R70C is a powerful Searchlight equipped with a large reflector(about 13cm the diameter) and equipped with a second generation Cree XHP70.2 LED capable of delivering to the turbo 6500lumen with a maximum light intensity of over 403500cd and a shot of 1270mt.
The first impression I had pulling the R70C out of the box was pure amazement. I had never seen or touched a flashlight of this size.
Like all the other Imalents seen so far, the build quality is excellent, the materials are of quality, the abundant thicknesses and the finishes treated in detail. To the touch the R30C offers a good feeling of solidity and strength. Despite the tonnage, the weight remains quite contained about 800g which becomes 1kg with the batteries inserted.
Before use, we must remember to remove the protective film to protect the lens.
The LED of this model is the CREE XHP70.2 HD (not decupulate) that is well centered on the bottom of the reflector.
The reflector is made of aluminum, smooth and mirror polished
The bezel seems to be made of aluminum, has a battlement and is protruding enough to protect the large lens of the R70C optimally.
The lens is of quality, anti-scratch, super-transparent and equipped with the classic anti-reflection treatment
The lettering is well done and present only in the queue with the product model and the words "Spot and Flood light in one".
The tail is not flat but also allows the flashlight to be used in tailstanding on horizontal surfaces.
On the edge of the tail there are a series of holes for fixing the wrist strap or paracord.
The flashlight can be disassembled essentially in two parts: • the head, on which is located all the circuitry, the optical part and the switch • the body inside which there are 4 18650 batteries that power the R70C
The head is obviously very large in the shape of a truncated cone and has a surface worked by means of vertical and horizontal milling very beautiful from the point of view esteticho and useful to ensure the anti-roll on inclined surfaces. Using the flashlight with high levels, such as the Turbo, the large surface of the head will allow excellent heat dissipation.
The flashlight body, on the other hand, has a cylindrical shape and has deep horizontal grooves which act as dissipating fins.
The anodization is perfect everywhere, smooth but not shiny, to the touch offers a beautiful feeling and also a good grip.
The switch is lateral, slightly protruding, wide, metallic (in steel). Pressing it emits a ringing "click", is very precise and offers excellent tactile feedback. It is easily detectable even in the darkness or if you are using gloves.
In the immediate vicinity of the switch there is a status LED that provides information on the capacity of the cell.
at the opposite side we find the magnetic charging interface. Slightly recessed into the head of the flashlight allows in a moment the connection of the appropriate cable. It is composed of two concentric metal rings and, thanks to the present magnet, connecting the proprietary cable is really very simple. In fact, it is sufficient to bring the parts closer together to allow contact. This system, unlike the classic micro USB or TypeC ports, allows greater resistance to water and dirt.
The charging speed is around 2 amps. A full charge takes about 6 hours. Different types of 18650 cells can also be used, both protected and not but preferably top button and not too short. Included in the package are 4x 18650 Imalent 3000mAh.
The configuration is 4P or batteries placed parallel to each other. Therefore, if necessary, the flashlight can also be used with only 1, 2 or 3 batteries. Obviously using a single cell will not be possible to activate the Turbo, given the large amount of current absorbed, while there will be no problems if you use more than one cell. A wrist strap and a pair of spare O-rings are also provided
For the safe use of the flashlight and to make the most of its potential, the exclusive use of quality cells that support large current draw is recommended. In addition, Imalent recommends the use of cells with PCBs (Protection Circuit). At the positive pole we have a thick and thick golden ring that allows contact with the positive pole of the cells.
At the negative pole we have instead a series of golden springs of good section, with little running but quite rigid.
The threads are well made, precise, sliding and well lubricated and thanks to the anodization they allow the physical lock-out of the interface by slightly unscrewing the head and thus eliminating the risk of accidental switching on and the annoying parasitic drain. An O-ring placed nearby ensures perfect waterproofing.
In hand the R70C is comfortable, balanced and not tired even if used for a long time.
The flashlight is guaranteed as waterproof according to the IPX8 standard. Tested abundantly in running water and also at a depth of 1 meter did not report any kind of infiltration. Impact resistance is given up to 1.5m in height.

Beam, Tint and Beamshots
The tint of the R70C is a Cool around 6000K, uniform and without any color change. The beam is tight but not too much, well focused, with a very bright spot and an active spill that is perfectly usable nearby By comparing the R70C beam with that of the RT35 I can say that it is about twice as large as diameter. Holding the flashlight parallel to the ground at a height of about 80cm, the spill, at the point where you have your feet, starts at about 150 / 160cm away. The geometry of the beam does not present artifacts, the shot is really monstrous: from some tests carried out I could see how it is possible to illuminate without problems at 500-600 meters away.

Final considerations
The R70C is a product with amazing performance. The power is incredible, the output to the Turbo exceeds 6000 lumens and, thanks to the immense reflector, the shot reaches well over the kilometer. Lighting well at 400-500 meters is not a problem at all. For longer distances it is necessary to use binoculars. XD
The dissipation, despite the powers involved, is excellent. The heat is dispersed throughout the body and on the large surface of the head allowing it to maintain high output levels for long periods. The integrated module for thermal regulation works well: the flashlight during my tests has never heated up so much to make it unpleasant to use with bare hands.
The interface is simple and intuitive, 6 levels well spaced, direct access to the Turbo and hidden Strobe level. Convenient the presence of an integrated charging system that allows you to charge the batteries without having to remove them from the flashlight.
The R70C is powerful, the size and weight are generous, but is very comfortable to hold in your hand even for long periods. It is balanced and the weights are well distributed. The materials are of quality, the finishes are cured and the abundant thicknesses. The beam particularly pleased me. Thanks to the powerful XHP70.2 and the reflector of about 12cm in diameter, we have a very bright, wide but well focused Spot. At the same time a bright and perfectly exploitable Spill lights everything in the immediate vicinity.
The tint is uniform, Cool but not particularly cold. The package is complete: we have 3000mAh 4x18650 (in addition to the spare O-rings, the Laynard, and the charging cable) that allow you to use the flashlight immediately.
What I would have preferred to see more on this model is: a screw connection for the tripod, a holster (or a system to protect the lens) included in the package, a wrist strap of superior quality, the use of an XHP70.2 HI LED (if it will exist) and maybe the possibility to choose between Cool and Neutral tint.
