Review: USB battery box 2x18650 enb

Been meaning to try one of these for a while. Finally caved and ordered one today.

Edit: Got it last night. It takes protected 3400’s and also works fine with flat tops.

Wish I had read these reviews first. My unit is all plastic, with a single standard USB out, and microUSB for charging. Shipping was OK, Under 2 weeks to the US.

I think I should have paid double for the enb, but will let you know how this one works out:

What do you think about the best batteries for this battery box? Classic ICR battery with highiest capacity? Or some LG/Sanyo/Samsung batteries will be better with different discharge curves? Thanks a lot.

You need to look at the energy curves from my reviews:

The box turns of at about 3.0 volt and a you will probably not draw more than 1A from the batteries, that means the blue curve. Follow the 3.0 volt line until it crosses the blue line, then look down at the Wh scale. The battery with the highest Wh is the best.

So fasttech seems to have two replacements for the original (which they seem to no longer stock)

and

If I don’t need the 2.1A output, is there any reason to get the 1681400 over 1483300 (or vice versa)

I got fakes. For more details:

I have this one:

Presumably the one that is in HKJs queue.

Mine terminates charging at ~4.15V and appears to charge 1 cell at a time. It won’t charge cells below 2.5V unless you pair an empty cell with a almost full cell. I have only been charging so I don’t have anything to say about discharging yet.
I have tried it with 10 cells so far and termination voltage is consistent on both ends. Low power cut off happens at 3.10V on both cells.
EDIT: The powerbank is not usable as an UPS - when you plug it in to charge the output stops and does not resume automatically when you stop charging.

I own the original version and use it as my main charger for 18650 cells - it charges to 4.19V with braided springs.
Is there any reason to believe that my cells would benefit from the use of a real (more expensive) charger?

No.

Hi i want to buy the new one that swann have, the small one , but also i dont want two battery and parallel, you say it not parralel because + not connect, what about enb the small one is it parallel or not?

I cannot say that without testing it.

Thankyou guru
Ok i want to consider it from price, how much is enb that you review

I was a few years ago, I doubt you can get it any more.

Hi my soshine with 2 battery make fun of me, i use to charge iphone
Maybe it draw about more than 1 ampere and my cable support 2.4 A
If i use 2 ampere slot usb it will turn of when battery about 3.8 or 3.7 v
3.5 and 3.6 is at the best, because you think and maybe its common to use that battery
Until reach 3 volt , because its lot energy at 3.8 v
If i use 1 ampere slot , it disconnected because my phone draw more than one ampere
I decide to buy with 1 battery power bank 18650 now
Next time i will buy 4 x18650 with not parallel
I want to ask you is it that hard that not use battery with different
Capacity , because i want to use battery’s from laptop that is old
And hard to make it same capacity
And i think 4x 18650 is best because it is draw a little current if use with
2 ampere because it divided current over 4 battery instead
Is that my power bank bad because it cut off when battery still 3.8 v?
Thankyou master

I have this box too few years back.
Using 2 batteries always end up 1 cell fully drained and the other seems unused.
However the faulty maybe is in the output. Output A not working at all, immediately shutdown after connected to phone. Output B working fine only about 5-6minutes after that shut down.
Never use it anymore.

Can you confirm that power bank batteries not parallel?
Because i want to use different battery
As you already say it charge 1 cell at a time, it mean not parallel?
How about efficiency is it good, is it hot ?

Thankyou for your article How far can LiIon be discharged?
Is it curve discharge and charge battery is same?

Read here: http://lygte-info.dk/info/BatteryLowVoltage%20UK.html

?

Can i make my own curve with my xtar vc4
That i connect my battery to multitester for precision voltage and i record video from xtar vc4 for Ah and multitester for voltage
( i think it more likely for review charger isnt it?)
For review battery we need constant load ?

Yes, you can make a charge curve, but as you write a constant current discharge is better for battery tests.
Something like this could be used: Test/review of Electronic load ZKE EBD-USB
