Romisen lights......

Dont know if this goes here or not but i know a lot of you guys have a romisen or two.......post pics as im sure other members would like to see them as well......i will be posting mine in a bit. Post a little something on what you like about the light.

This is my recent Romisen......yes i know its a knockoff of the Nitecore Extreme, but this is so much more affordable. What i like about it is that its bright on a primary Cr123 but even brighter on an AW rcr.

Heres the RC-G2 and N3 in cr123 format with blue tennis grip and reflective tape that a kind cpf member donated to me. As you can tell i love single celled lights.

Before and after with the tape.

Heres a group shot of the rest......I love the Romisens for there build quality....just too bad that the G2 cant be used with a 14500 or that sucker would be so much brighter.

And heres the RCA3 with the RCH3.....

There, I fixed it for you There's a little button in the upper row of the editor window that lets you add an image so it actually displays the image instead of showing a link. If you think it's worth it, I could make it possible to upload images directly to this site.

Beautiful pics! Looks much nicer than the stock photos on DX. I read on DX that the new RC-A3 models are now multimode, can anyone confirm that?

How about if I move this thread into the LED Flashlights category, since it covers multiple sizes / battery types?

Thanks, really nice post!

But of course....move it if need be......just wanted to share my romisens with the members here.

Done. Thanks again for the pics, keep them coming please!

Dug out my Romisens. Was going to take pics, but the dogs insisted on helping - every time I cleared some space, a dog sat on it and another dog tried to lick my face. One of them is going home today so it may get easier this evening.

Lol.....looks like they love being with you, and just want your attention.

I have three Romisens, an RC-F4 a nice single mode designed for 2x123. I feed it 17670s normally - it isn't fat enough to take an 18650 and won't take even protected 17670s. My cells came from the battery pack of a defunct Toshiba laptop so were free.

Here's its lightly orange-peeled reflector, tailcap and RCR123 cells

Then there's the RC-T5 a 4 LED device that runs on 2x18650, 3xRCR123, 4x123, 2x18500 or whatever. Claims something like 4.2-16.8V input. Runtime on 4xRCR123 is not long

Here's the head

And the RC-T6 which has 6 (Q5 I think) LEDs in it. Same battery options as the RC-T5 - shorter runtime on high. Same extender. Never tried adding the two together to see it it'll run on 3x18650. Should give fairly good runtimes like that. It does fit, it doesn't extend it long enough to put in a third 18650. Might work with 3x18500 but probably minimal improvement in runtime in that configuration compared to 18650.

6 LEDs in the head

Came with a rather nice case (As did the RC-T5)

I like the T5 and T6....hows the beam profile on both lights......

White wall shots about 50cm/18" from the wall. The effect is most pronounced at close range.

T5 on high (All 4 LEDs lit)

T6 low (2 LEDs lit)

T6 Medium (4 LEDs lit)

T6 High (6 LEDs lit)

Hope that's of some use

Taking a look at the pics it seems that the T5 has a more pronounced hotspot......i like that. And yes that does help.

It is - but the T6 puts out quite a bit more light. Neither are what you would call monster throwers though. Next time it stops raining I'll try for outdoors beamshots.

Well im not about throwers myself....some of my lights that use single cells do a good enough job. For brownouts and outdoor use i prefer my ITP C6t, that sucker puts out a wall of light.

I'm using a very large screen (2560x1440) to view these images. Is it just my machine, or does the picture of the T5 look very horizontally compressed to you too?

Yup, sorry, I'm going to update the instructions for image posting, it looks like you have to set the width to 100% and then leave the height blank. I think I got them fixed now for you on your last posts.

You can tell that Mr. Admin has been hard at work.

You guys are the hard workers, these pictures are great.

I know how to fiddle with lights, but wouldn't have a clue about running a forum - especially with software repurposed from a content management system. Must take a look at what Drupal can do some time. I used to sell cameras and make prints for people in the early 80's so I hope I remember it. When I was a (Chemistry) student I lived in a photographer's studio so I hope I remember how to do it. I'd like a camera that could do better close up stuff but I'll need a decent computing job to earn the cash for that new toy.

What I like about budget lights is I don't have to find extra work to get them. I have one small job at the moment for my dentist, but his bill is going to be bigger than mine.

Dug out the Romisens and a P7 light for comparison. At my usual settings the pics look a tad overexposed - these guys are really too bright for a 15m (Call it 50 feet) range. One day I promise to get an accurate measurement of the distance to that apple tree. Too avoid strangeness, I've manually resized all of these to 800 x 600. I can easily make them bigger if required, the originals are 3072x2304.

Here are the three contenders.

Aurora AK-P7 (You'll find Jayki's review here. He didn't like it much), Romisen RC-T6 (Jayki's review here. He liked it a lot), and Romisen RC-T5 (Here's a CPF thread on it).

So: The lights

Control shot

Photobucket is being remarkably slow at receiving pics just now and it's not yet uploaded. Coffee break. Of course, the control shot is the last to upload...

Aurora AK-P7 Low

Aurora AK-P7 High

Romisen RC-T6 Low

Romisen RC-T6 Medium

Romisen RC-T6 High

Romisen RC-T5 Low

Enjoy!

Damn the T6 on low is very impressive.......Hows the heat transfer on the T5 and T6.
