In fact there are some, like the site admin, who still don't know much about lights, but they still enjoy learning!

But they also throw pretty well because of the sheer output. The RC-T6 is basically a high powered flood light.
woe that's pretty cool... looks like a good, better, best type of output... it def looks like the l2 is brighter than the Q5 light. Thanks for putting that up for me to see... do you have any pics of the itp c6? As it is right now, I'm pretty impressed with the output of the L2.
Batteryjunction has them on sale right now.....not bad a price at all. Wish i had gotten mine for that price i would've picked up two. Theres a smooth an op version. Heres the review on the light, for me i love the 3hours of runtime on one 18650 cell. http://www.light-reviews.com/itp_c6_tactical/

Don dont we sound like salesmen....lol.
No problem. I knew nothing a few years ago either. And know less now....
You've got it on the dropins, just unscrew the head pull out the dropin, put a new one in and screw the head back down. Here's a dismantled P60 light, in this case an Ultrafire WF-504B which I've pointed you to reviews of. The body is absolutely identical to the Uniquefire L2 (And probably the Solarforce LS and Surefire lights)
The dropin is the thing in the middle of the top row.
The XP-E R2 dropin that came with it will project a bright spot of light a long way "a thrower" but is probably only 60-70% of the total output of the XP-G R5 dropins. The XP-G emitter is brighter than the XR-E one, but is also larger so needs a much larger reflector to bring the light to a point focus. Actually, out of doors at night (unless you are in a city where light pollution makes all lights seem dimmer) I find myself mostly using the lower output modes - you don't actually need a lot of light to see where you are going, though it is handy to be able to have much more light on occasion. I hope to get some beamshots at a longer range at the weekend.
nice, thanks man, I'm reading the review of it right now... does that light have the same emitter as the Romisen I own rc-n3-q5? the review says it has a tight beam pattern... but you say it floods quite well? it seems like a good light and the runtime seems excellent if you can get 3 hours out of it.
It has more of a tight spot and wide spill....yes it is a Q5 and simple UI.....just twist the head to drop the output and when you like what you see then just tighten the head again.....with the cells i have i get 2.5 hours before the output drops. And it has a low voltage warning so unprotected cells can be used. But i just want you to know that you will have to mod the LE if you want something else in there......as with Dons postings all you need is a drop in.
that's really cool... I think I'm going to purchase an L2 since I like the idea of being able to put a different drop in... do you have any recommendations on a good drop in for the light? Do some drop ins create more of a flood beam or would the beam of light only depend on the reflector of the light? I'd love to have a way to get a good flood on the light. My Romisen seems like it has a good mix to it...but I'd like more flood less throw.
No problem. Sorry, don't have that one. What I do have would be rather tedious to read, (and even more tedious to type) but the relatively recent stuff I have follows
Ultrafire C3 Q5 stainless steel AA/14500
Ultrafire RL-118 stainless steel CR123/16340/RCR123
Trustfire F22 stainless steel AA/14500
Trustfire F23 stainless steel AAA/10440
Aurora SH032 stainless steel 18650
2xUltrafire WF-504B (R2 dropin) 18650
Ultrafire WF-503B (MC-E dropin) 18650
Akoray K-103 AAA/10440
Akoray K-106 AA/14500
Uniquefire AA-S1 AA/14500
Uniquefire S10 AA/14500
4Sevens Preon kit AAA
Uniquefire L2 (R5 dropin) 18650
Piritlight SG-L8 (MC-E) 18650 but it needs fiddling with to make it work. About 300 lumens, tight beam - will light things up at 300m when it is working.
that's a pretty good collection of lights....I hope to build a collection of them eventually... for now I'll have to settle with one at a time.
But fortunately you are very good at providing us a place where we can all enjoy our discussions. That is certainly not something I could do without a lot of learning that would be painful for all concerned. Besides never mistake my big mouth for expertise. I'm learning too and having a great time doing so. None of us could afford to get all the lights out there - I mean, I probably couldn't find the space to store them all even if I could afford them
So it's good to be able to find out about stuff that might be interesting without spending a fortune on unsuitable stuff. Actually light modding is more fun than repairing my dentist's laptop. But guess which one pays better?
I got a nice job rewiring a dental practice network, putting in a new server, locking it down properly and so on so bought quite a lot of toys lights. But unless something revolutionary comes out, I'll not be spending much for a while now - any sort of light I can think of a need for, I have something that will do the trick. Except a dive light and I'm not about to take up diving.
haha... I went diving a few times when I lived on Maui for a summer... it's a ton of fun... never went at night but I would think having a dive light would be pretty neat as in areas that are open ocean where the depth drops off to more than 200-300 feet it's very dark. I used to dive at Molikini which is a crater and then this other spot called Turtle-town... very fun experiences and far from the ocean experiences I could ever find here in the northeast where I live
I had one last question before I get off here and get some dinner... I'm going to purchase the uniquefire L2 as Alejjandero said it's a good light to put drop ins with. I'm wondering if you knew what would be some good drop ins for it? I think I asked earlier but you might have missed it... but I was wondering if a drop in affects the beam pattern of light or is it just the reflector that controls the beam pattern. I'd like to be able to have a light with a lot of flooding capability. Also is there somewhere I can find information on different emitters? I know there's like ssc p7, Q5, R2, what do each of these mean?
About a week ago, I knew absolutely nothing about flashlights, and I still hardly know anything other than the fact that the one light I have (the romisen rc-n3) is the brightest flashlight I've ever seen and I know there are 100's and 1000's of lights... it is overwhelming to a point. thanks again for your help and patience
You know I never thought of this, but should we include a drop-in and/or LED emitters section on this forum? Sorry I've never bought them apart from a flashlight so I can't give any intelligent feedback on pattersonbrl's question.

The one that comes with it gives you loads of light, and a useful low. If you already have rechargeable CR123's I'd look for one of them with a module that can take 8.4V (The voltage of a fully charged lithium cell). If you're going for batteries and a charger as well, personally, I'd go for 18650s and therefore you only need a module that can go to 4.2V. I always mark them on arrival with the voltage they can take. You can buy the L2 with various dropins - I think I did put links to them somewhere above., if not I'll put them up tomorrow - it's bedtime (It is after 11pm here) and time the dog went out to empty herself or I'll be up at 4am to let her out.

I have 3 or 4 "Super Bright R2" modules that got swapped out for something more fun. So it probably makes sense - or just move all the P60 lights and their dropins into a suitable section. I have a couple of UV dropins, but never use those to illuminate a hotel mattress - body fluids fluoresce. As does where the dog has been bad.
personally, I think that would be a cool idea.. or just a section on a forum that describes what each emitter does... I'm not very educated on this by any means, but I think on a bunch of flashlight reviews, for example a p7 emitter is good for a good flooding beam? I could be completely wrong... but just information on emitters in general would be cool to learn more about. Also some information about how old or new emitters are. I'm not sure where to find any of that kind of information out. I've tried to do a google search on something like Q5 to understand what the emitter does, but I haven't found anything that i could either understand in plain terms or anything relevant.
included in the new forum category could be for specific drop ins people have done on specific flashlights so that people who want to buy a particular flashlight can get an idea for what a different drop in would be like. That's just my opinion... I don't know if it's a good idea or not as I'm very new to flashlight technology, but I have a big interest in learning about it.
Yes it would be nice to put up a dropin thread......Like you i dont have one but do plan on getting a Solarforce.
Yes you're right, we need to put together some beginner guides. Kind of like a budget Consumer's Report magazine.
I wonder if I should separate the drop-ins forum by supported batteries type? Or by class?
