Selbuilt's Sofirn IF25A review

My latest review:

Sofirn IF25A

I know this is pretty old model now, by modern 1x21700 standards. But I’ve been trying out the currently-available “budget” brands, to see how they compare to the more established makers. And this model does use the advanced Anduril 2 user interface. Check out my full review to see how it compares, but here is a quick teaser:

Next up will be the Sofirn C8L, so you’ll have a chance to compare to a more recent model.

I’m excited to read your thoughts on the Sofirn C8L.

The packaging has been upgraded!

That High runtime is still nice and stable!

It’s interesting how it stepped back up for Turbo. It just stepped down when I did a runtime test on the same model, albeit from an older batch with a brown box.

I hope Sofirn produces more well regulated drivers in the future!

Yes, they have definitely upgraded more than just the box for the C8L - the new circuit behaves very differently on Turbo now (compared to earlier reviews out there, and your results).

I’m actually impressed, as it is rare to see a light (especially a budget one) step back up in output as it cools down. That means constantly monitoring the temp sensor, which is uncommon. Also interesting to see the ramping up and down, and the intermediate levels it settles at.

They really should have differentiated the light with the new circuit (i.e., V2?). Don’t know if the change is concurrent with the new packaging, but that’s a reasonable supposition until we know more.

Recently upgraded my review rating for the IF25A to 3.5 stars.

On further playing around with the switch indicator settings, I realized you can have a very effective “green moonlight” mode, which adds to the versatility of the light.
