Sinner Ti, 1st Look at a 1 of 3 prototype *Pic Heavy* Final news MT-G2 on board 1335 lumens

Hiya hiya!
Want to share some first pics of my newest and biggest Ti light, Sinner made and sinner used it’s an 18650 host made with some unique perspectives. The entire light is made in one piece, from the flared head to the apparent tail cap, one piece of Titanium. The bezel holds a tubular style (Convoy S6 style) reflector on top of a screwed in copper pill. The tail switch is a brass inset that also threads into the flared tail of the light, housing a reverse clicky and a solid brass contact.
I built the light with a BLF17DD FET driver, utilizing 7 levels from a Moon mode of 4 lumens, to Turbo of 1566 lumens. It draws 6.14A from a Sony C5 button top through it’s XM-L2 U2 4C on a 16mm Noctigon. Yes, it gets hot in Turbo mode, but the robust Titanium construction seems to not spread the heat, while the head is getting quite hot, the battery tube is still cool. Longer run times will almost certainly change this, but by the time the battery tube is warming up the head will flat out burn you!
Just got it this afternoon, got it built and tweaked, and just got some pics…

This is said to be a rough proto, with some fine tuning to be done to future “production” models. That said, there are a few places where tweaks are needed but Sinner is on top of this and I have no doubt future versions will be more polished and have a factory fit and finish to make anyone proud.

Me? I like this one! It’s robust, with very thick walls and a lot of Titanium in play…being a Ti freak that’s right down my alley! There are lights that they claim you can run over with a truck and not harm them. This is one that may very well harm the truck!

I’ll get some beamshots tomorrow…

Well done Sinner, very much appreciated!

Edit: To contact Sinner, go to the thread Sinner’s Custom Hosts

Beamshots with my standard set, 97 yds to red oil drum, first shot at 28mm then at 112mm zoom. Canon G1X at 1600 ISO 1/2 sec exp at f/5.6 wide-f/5.8 zoom.

I decided to add some TLC by way of Fire. After some cleaning and hand sanding to fine tune the finish, I hit it with flame. “Is it just me, or is it Hot in here!?”

I was thinking, Dubai is a city of immense beauty, sparkling with allure and attraction with an unmatched glamour and seductiveness. So why shouldn’t Sinners Ti light be equal to that reputation?

This is added from post 24, to keep the build and pictures all in the original post for ease of following…

Well, most of us knew it was just a matter of time. I got up this morning and wanted to find out if this little 20mm reflector could be made to fit over the big MT-G2 emitter. And the only way to really know, is to do the work. So I bored out the reflectors opening for the emitter and Surprise! It fits!

So then I took my chopped AA mini mag apart, removed the MT-G2 that, while really neat in that small light, was really being wasted as a mule on the pair of 14250’s. After cutting down the Noctigon to fit into the base of the reflector, and consequently on top of the Sinner Ti’s copper pill, I did the Zener mod on a stock Qlite. I figured 3A to the big emitter should be more than sufficient, and it would keep it in the sweet spot.

So now the light is assembled, looks pretty dang sweet with that big fat emitter glowing in there, and it’s pulling 2.98A from a rested pair of Efest 10A 18350 cells. This is good for a nice 1335 OTF lumens at start, and a surprising 1280 OTF lumens at 30 seconds. Star 4 is engaged for moon mode, which is too low for my meter to pick up. Then Lo shows 24 lumens and Med shows 367 lumens. Nice simple 4 mode light…Moon, 24, 367, and 1280. And it’s white light! Big hot spot so it’s mostly a flood of light.

I’ll get a pic looking into the reflector after while. Pretty cool though, for sure, seeing that big emitter filling the 20mm reflector with yellow…

Feast your eyes on this…

And with Moon mode On…

Moon is so Lo it’s completely useless if there’s ambient light at all, but I’m sure it will be very nice in the dark of the night. Of course, I’ll check it out tonight.

I had some folks at Academy store oohing and ahing with the de-domed XM-L2 yesterday morning, shining it on Hi into the palm of my hand they were freaking out on it’s intensity. Now, the MT-G2 doesn’t put a hot spot in the palm of my hand but makes my entire hand so bright as to be painful to the eyes!

Got a chance to go out in the night between storms, this little Ti light is deceptive! It now puts out a wide flood of light that loses the hot spot with a bit of distance…

Very useful as an EDC in my opinion, with such a massive field of light available and 3 lower modes I’m pretty sure it will be much more useful this way. The tint is also a huge plus, not to mention less than half the current draw lasting longer on cells, with the drawback that the cells are now much lower capacity. Always trade-offs in this game, isn’t there?

Beautiful! I’d love to see a triple Nichia 219 in this

Wow…shiny and tough…awesome build

Need more glamor shots of the 17DD

excellent build, great job!

rollinstone, a triple nichia 219 would be perfect for this light. A copper spacer added to the top of the pill would be necessary to span the gap as the optics are shorter than this reflector, which could only be a good thing in this heavy duty Ti light.

Don’t the newer style 219b emitters take higher amperage? So 3 of these driven at 6-9A would be rocking, no?

Awesome flashlight porn— thanks for sharing.

Very nice. The brass tail adds a little something nice. My only suggestion is a clip to hang it in your pocket.

great design, and very sleek, love it!

Wow, that is very impressive build. May I know what is Sinner is it your brand/company?

Ok ...I'm all for Sinner doing our next BLF light ..

harry, Sinner is a forum member that made this light on his lathe.

Dale, my friend you just gave a hunk of metal a new life, In the right hands, even the concept host can make a good flashlight, I have no doubts that your expertise and suggestions will be very useful for my upcoming projects.

Pleasure’s all mine  Just keep up the good work and save my spot in the que for the Cypreus…

I have a lot of budget lights and a couple of more decent ones. With over 50 lights on my shelf the majority are still black aluminum lights. I have baked a Raysoon to a nice coppery orange, I have a 2D MagLight that’s Purple and a few chopped AA MiniMags that are red or purple. But the majority are black. Simple, boringly the same. And now when it’s at rest (meaning not in my pocket), this gleaming Titanium light is like a Prince hanging out in the farmers market! lol He’s got some gleaming copper pills for company, but still, the bar has been raised…

Granted, the Texas Poker is on a Ti curb chain around my neck, it doesn’t hang out with the commoners…

When I get a belt holster made for the new Sinner Ti, it won’t be occupying shelf space either.

Orsm host from sinner Dale and its good to see you build a BLF designed driver. Did you send it express post to me?

I did Steve, you should start looking for it the second Tuesday of next week.

I’ve been doing nothing but BLF drivers for a few weeks, used a Qlite for the first time in a while the other day and wasn’t sure how to do it. lol

Everything I’ve got now is screaming, my cells are groaning, even the glass lenses are begging for a break. Still, the single cell record breaker for me is the Buck modified Convoy C8 with it’s massive copper pill and Tofty switch, running the FET driver and pulling 15.67A from a Sony C5 via the power hungry Luminus SST-90. Beats the heck out of me how that single cell does it but it does. 6.2A or so is normal for most of my Cree’s. Built a chopped AA minimag with a triple XP-G2 R5 1A and the BLF17DD earlier this week that pulls a little over 7A from a 14500. Yep, pretty insane! Gave it to a buddy in CT and he’s giggling like a school girl on prom night right about now as the sun heads low in the West. He just got it this morning. lol

I’m still looking at what I can do with the reflector on this Sinner Ti light to get an MT-G2 in it. A pair of Efest 18350’s and it’d be pretty dang cool! But I also have to figure out how to modify the switch or it won’t be cool for long. Hopefully Matt and Sinner are getting that little issue addressed and I’ll be able to benefit from it.

How many lumens did that SST90 put out at 15.67a?

I’m jealous. J)

With an Efest 35A at 4.22V fresh off the charger, the SST-90 made 1673 lumens OTF at start, 1491 OTF at 30 seconds. Amp reading before the lightbox test showed 16.01A. Still doing 1404 at 2 minutes, this is all with a smooth reflector in place.

I put an Orange peel reflector in and got higher numbers from a 20R at 4.18V, start value of 1766 OTF. It’s horribly inefficient, just like was said when I got the burr under my saddle to try one. But I still like it, as much for how power hungry it is as the nice tint it’s got. Supposed to be a 4500K tint bin.

I may have a Luminus SBT-70 available to me soon, might have to put it in this Ti light. Still thinking about using an MT-G2 though, for the output and color. Have to commit to boring out one of these 20mm reflectors to experiment. I’d get much more output from 4A from the MT-G2 than 6 or 7A from the Luminus emitter. Might de-dome this XM-L2 4C first and see where to go from there.

New glamour shots added to first post, gave it some TLC by introducing it to Fire.

What happened here is a miracle, oh wait It was Dale , You sir never cease to amaze. Love it!
