Sneak tease. Because this build is taking forever.

A new thread will be started whenever this build is completed. I've had bits built for weeks and instead off me looking at them everyday, and not doing anything with them thought I would give you a sneak peek. Thanks to some members here for advice when needed.

And the evil mastermind behind the whole project, I'm to scared to call him anything but Sir. When he barks a command l jump.

Wow. That is something else! Love the heatsink/star combo, not sure heatsinking can get much better

Is the pill for the Defiant ST? Can’t get much better than that monster pill as far as heatsinking goes.
The last pic…I know what you mean…is he a Jack Russell? Because ours has us all trained…

You have a mill now? I'm extremely jealous.

That driver looks like a delicious cake. Yum!

Seeing the emitter, I’m pretty sure the end product will put a big smile on my face.
Nice machine work! Looking forward to more info on the project!

Answers. No, Defant 3C, thanks (to you all), yes, they both do. We have two. One with long legs and this one with short legs. There brother and sister. You couldn’t get two dogs from the same litter looking so different. The kids think that there their dogs but we all know there BOTH mine.

LOL. No, I dont own a mill. I have a vice that goes on in place off the tool post. I stuck an end mill in the 3 jaw chuck and went from there. I dont have any sort of graduations on the main saddle longitudinal travel so had to use a texta mark to tell me how far to travel in. Next time I will clamp a piece off wood across the bed to stop at the right depth.

Nice square corners in the star cutout. How long does it take to cut that many threads.

I tried cutting this thread one with only a couple off cuts. Unfortunately the first cut looked liked it had been chewed out by one off the dogs. The rest off the cuts was try to save it mode. I haven’t made the heat sink yet so will just make it to suit the pill. The heatsink is what I’ve drawn up. Hopefully it will have the switch in it but so was my last one and what did it end up with? You know how the best laid plans go. That star is my second attempt. The drill was blunt and wondered off on the first one. I could off used it but I would off never got over the ribbing you would off given me. Thats what happens when your slack.

Will you be adding some chocolate sprinkles to the top of the layer cake? I love chocolate sprinkles.

I really can't wait to see this monster come to life. That copper heat sink is very sexy. Well, anything copper is sexy to me.

My daughter has taken pitty on you (why l dont know) and whipped this up for you. Enjoy.

I don't know the current that will be used, but please please please let it be at least 6 amps through the led (38ledwatts), because I really want to see that happening, if any MT-G2 set-up could handle that current it is this one (and I am pretty confident that the led will hold)

Sorry djozz. It will be 5 amps. Identical driver and light as the last build with the XM-L2 on copper. It should make an interesting comparison.

Only 5 amps !

Can’t wait to see it finished.

I knew you’d get around to making a copper pill for my HD2010 sooner or later. Mailing address pm’d. Hope to see it soon!

Looks great. Thanks for the sneak peak. I’m always in awe of your work.

ooh, very tasty looking piece of machining and I really can’t tell where the dog chewed it. That’s going to make for one sweet light. The Undertaker on mtbr diy light forum did a similar pedestal/ star heatsink for his MT-G2 lights which seemed to work really well:

Waiting to see what happens here!

WOW… sweet!
Direct thermal path, just got a new meaning. I have seen similar stuff before, I think, but cant remember nothing as sweet as this!

will this be going in your two cell hd2010? its an awesome looking pill, cant wait for the final product.

Thanks again for the vote off support. To answer some off the questions.

That makes quite a few off us. Can you let me know when it will be done? :_(

Thanks for the link. I have seen this post before which sort of pushed me to do what I’ve done instead of a round hole. What some off those blokes do blows me away. They must have far to much time on there hands.

Speaking off people with to much time on there hands, gords. I know you are putting in a couple off big days at work but you should really be looking for a second job to pay for this castle your buying instead of hanging around pointless light forums.
I’m not sure who started this HD2010 thing, I hope it was not me like I did in the giveaway where I abused everyone for wanting an XM-L2 where I clearly said XM-L2. Whoops, thought I’d typed XM-L U2. This is going into a, quote ‘’Defiant 3C’’. I love these lights. For you lucky US guys these would have to be the bargain host off the year let alone a working light.

Cheers guys.
