Sofirn C01S SST-20 4.000K 95CRI / Low-High version available again!

some of mine

Convoy actually has 5mm diameter x 3mm thick magnets on their Aliexpress store. He advertises them as temporary buttons for flat top batteries, so strength might not have been a priority in sourcing them, but Simon generally sells quality stuff, so I’d personally try his magnets versus a random Amazon seller.

So I’m not the best at physics but that would be the ultimate test right? It would be easier for them to hang upside down?

Yes, it’s easier to get them to hang upside down than to resist sliding down a smooth surface or peel off because of the center of gravity being far from the attachment point.

I got a couple of C01 for the kids as a bribe, and now as an additional bribe I’m tempting them with phosphorescent tubes for the back. Any recommendations?

For myself I also got a C01/C01r/C01S trio. Really happy with them. Anyone has any backstory how to Red version came about as it seems a bit of an outlier. I would love to have the options to get similar in different colours … because … why not.

Barry came up with the red LED when Sofirn decided to reissue the C01 using rngwns LED. He warned that the beam is not very good and even showed a beamshot, but no one complained and some asked for it. At that time 670 nm was hip due to a medical paper.

Edit: was talking about the red C01, not the C01R.

Looking for guidance. I have seen references to using a 10440 cell in a C01s. What are the implications? Poof? Shorter LED life? How much brighter? So far I’m happy with the NiMh AAAs I’m suing (EBL)

dont think that battery is meant to be used, could be wrong tho…

This light is not “supposed” to take a 10440. No idea as to what would happen if one were to be used.

Click “search within thread” at the top of the page and do a search for “10440.”

You’ll find a decent number of posts about it. Experience seems to be mixed whether or not it will hurt the light.

i just got 2 of the C01S from the close out sale for the desert tan (brown) color.

The Low mode is the default and seems really bright for only 3 lemons, but the High mode will shoot your eye out.

How much you paid them each?
There was a promo of 2.99$ months ago but never came again.

$6.99, looks like it is still ongoing

shame only sand tan color available.

I ordered two. Thanks for sharing!

PS, only two left at this moment.

Thought I’d just mention in case anyone is interested that the official Sofirn Store on AliEx is currently selling the C01 “special” version with 670nM led for less than 7 bucks. This is the version with SINGLE MODE, and approx. 5 lumens.

I received a few this week. Took about 2-weeks to arrive from China (I’m in the US). Beam is ugly, but hope to find diffusers to use while walking around at night.

Is anyone able to suggest where to get slip-on diffusers? OEMs are out-of-stock. I don’t have a 3D printer. Maybe small (13mm) chapstick covers? Thanks for any suggestions!

If I put a diffuser onto my red C01, nearly no light is left. DCfix could be an alternative, not sure.

Hey Light-saber. I rubbed some steel wool around the LED and “reflector” to slightly improve the beam of my red C01.

I’ve been using the C01 red with the oem diffuser the last few nights to get me to/from the bathroom at night, so it depends on the user’s environment and purposes.

And thanks for the DC-Fix suggestion! I may give that a try. There is no bezel or glass lens, tho’, so may need to glue the DC-Fix.

Great suggestion! Definitely an improvement. I will give this a try.
