That is why I think using a shared driver that is compatible with Anduril might be the best compromise so that everyone is happy.
I prefer having high and a separate turbo, to have more variety in the modes, as it would have only 5 brightness modes (Moonlight-Low-Medium-High-Turbo).
With Anduril there is ramping, so a separate turbo isn’t needed as much.
I think most people would prefer 4500k instead of 5000k, it looks better at night in my opinion, but is not noticeably warm.
In this model there was a LED from Samsung, it is disliked because it can be with a green tint (4000K version).
Now the LED from Nichia is popular - 519A. In most cases, the 3500K, 4000K and 4500K versions have a GREAT tint!
The headband strap should still be the same as the previous headlight, there won’t be any big changes.
If there were to be an option for 18350 short tubes, then the batteries used in the headlights would probably use 18650 battery. Just like the SP40 headlight can match the 18350 tube.
And you will have the great selling light.
Please just look at Emisar D3AA and Wurkkos HD10, they have a lot interest. Only now HD10 has the start with problems, so there is some space to work on
I’m using headlamp mostly for doing work around home and observe minerals. I use mostly 5000K led and UV led (to identify leaks as well).
What functions do you want your headlamp to have?
balanced throw - flood, 2 modes like normal - UV, well spaced brightness level and not too much level (firefly, low, med, high, turbo are great), anduril (optional).
What kind of headlamp experience annoys you?
Too heavy and not well spaced brightness level, strobe.
Anduril can be switched between simple UI and advanced UI, and people can choose the UI according to their own situation. Thank you very much for sharing your feelings and suggestions with us. I will record your thoughts and give a feedback.
Ironically, the SP36 BLF I got with LH351D 4000k has incredibly neutral tint. Was one of the last lights they had left. My SP40 has the typical greenish tint though.
I still much prefer the 519a though, especially after dedoming for a rosy tint.
I have two different models from Sofirn - SC21 Pro and HS10, both 4000K. SC21 Pro is a little greenish tint, HS10 is wonderful with a slight pink tint.
IMHO, the 519A is more stable in this respect.
That also has to do with the different types of optics, some emitters behave differently in a reflector (SC21) vs a TIR (HS10), so that is something to keep in mind.
There is still some tint lottery with the 519a, but usually it is between neutral and slightly rosy, which is far more preferable.
One more wish - provide an option to easily remove the magnet for those who do not need it (it should not be glued).
This is much more convenient, cheaper and easier than releasing a separate back cover without a magnet
