Hello everyone. Here’s my review on SOFIRN SC13. Thanks for a good place to share content. Please subscribe to my channel . Happy New Year

Gotta love it, an exact copy of the Armytek C1 Pro

Nah, the C1 Pro has a good driver with regulated output. This is just run of the mill SST40 + FET crap from Sofirn yet again.
Wake me up when then stop releasing FET lights.
Good point
Great Video format, super useful to see the lumen outputs annotated and demonstrated.
At first glance they look the same, but they’re actually quite different.
- They aren’t the same size. The SC13 is 28.5mm by 64.6mm, while the C1 Pro is 24.5mm by 67mm.
- They aren’t the same shape and have numerous differences in Body and head shape, clip position, textures, button and charge port type and location.
- Armytek uses a proprietary tailcap magnetic charging like an Olight or Skilhunt, but without the risk of a direct short if the 2 charging pads are shorted by your keys (at least according to their advertising). Sofirn SC13 has a much more conventional charge port under a rubber flap on the head opposite the button. From the pictures it looks like micro-USB.
They only look similar because they both are 18350 side-switch lights with an optic and a concave body tube.
From glancing at the features it looks like the Armytek is probably a much better light.
Yes, Armytek is a much better light, so is TS10. I don’t really see the point of this light.
I have a review sample of the SC13 enroute. My interest in the light is as a host for a High CRI mod… remains to be determined if the host can be opened easily.
The appeal for me, is the built in charging for 16340 and 18350, because that would support my 16340 HDS and 18350 RRT-01.
I dont expect to fall in love w the driver or UI of the SC13, since Im so spoiled by Anduril and Rotaries. But I think the beam may be to my liking… Im interested in floody beams as an alternative option to my reflector lights.
Sometimes I look for lights that could be useful as a gift to non aficionados, so non Anduril lights may have a place in the selection.
Im picky about regulation and PWM, it remains to be determined what the Flicker index of the SC13 is… will share Opple data once I review the light…
Small, Cheap, Easy to use, Rechargeable, are all features that can be useful for a newbie friend or family member.
For me, its all about High CRI, so my priority interest in the SC13 is to determine whether it is moddable.
Let us know what you think of the beam profile. Those flat TIRs are interesting in how short they are but they might not make the prettiest beam. I have one scavenged from that Sofirn plastic keychain light (SC02) but I haven’t played around with it yet.
The lens looks pretty similar to SC02 (terrible UI, surprisingly nice beam) and HS10 (gorgeous beam imo) - I’m very satisfied with the sofirn Fresnel lenses.
Only pic I have at hand, left is 4000K 351D HS10 with Fresnel.
Oh of course! I have the HS10 and didn’t even think of it as having the same lens. I agree, no complaints with the beam.
I have HS10 also… will try to remember to compare its beam to the SC13… I do suspect they are using the same lens. Remains to be seen to confirm
My SC13 tracking shows port of departure… I expect it will take another couple of weeks to reach me…
I like how moddable the HS10 is… but I have no love for the Flicker Index of the driver. I suspect similar oscillations from the SC13 driver.
here is an HS10 album… Im not that impressed by the optic… the beam profile is not a very consistent gradient across the beam… but… for the price… it is useable as a close range task light…
fwiw, I use physical lockout on the HS10 as I found the battery dead on one I have hanging in my tool room after a couple of months
All levels except moon have 20 kHz PWM, even turbo (probably because it’s a direct-drive driver and they wanted to limit the maximum current to the single SST-40).
Here at level “high”, not even 50% duty cycle.
thanks for sharing Pulse speed and depth info
do you know
is the driver efficient and the output regulated?
I haven’t done any runtime tests yet, but I’m pretty confident it’s a simple FET driver with direct-drive. Thus neither efficient nor regulated.
And they wonder why their lights are not selling.
Beam looks terrible. Yeah, a pass from me. Unless there’s a magic buck driver in there.
Just kidding. It’s Sofirn, after all.
afaik, the Sofirn SC21 Mini is efficient, regulated and moddable… may be hard to beat for the price
I’ve just noticed the SC13 seems to have been withdrawn from sale (on the official AliExpress Sofirn store at least).
“the product is being upgraded, Upgraded product will go live in February”
Welcome to BLF curlydonkey
thanks for the report,
Im seeing the same info on Aliex
