For quite some time now , the L2P grey has been unavailable , so when it finally became available again to buy, I did not hesitate . This is my second L2P , the first one was a black one and I agonized over which one to buy , Black or Grey , Ok I should have sprung for both , but who knew they were going to stop producing the grey model ?
I really like the L2P , Solarforce has really gone to great lengths to make the L2P a stand out product , it takes the L2 host to the next level , for those who demand more quality and a better fit and finish . Now I had only one complaint , on the body tube at the rear , there was a bur left after machining [ easy to remove ] , and the inside edge is a little on the sharp side as a result [ not a deal breaker ] , but everything else is just superb .
The anodizing is so nice and even , and I do like the color [ tempted to buy another ] , everything fits together so nicely [ head - tailcap ] , with minimal slop , and the parts screw together nice and smoothly . One of the complaints about the regular L2 from Solarforce is the mis-matched knurling on the body and tailcap , if you look at the pictures , you will see some very nicely matched diamond checkering on the body and tailcap . So if the regular L2 vexes you in this regard , you may need to buy a L2P .
You will notice in the pictures a have removed the regular bezel and replaced it with the Stainles Steel Flat L2 bezel ring , I prefer the flat SS one [ personal choice ] , and since I had a spare doing nothing .
Im really happy with this L2P , I love the color , and I love the quality , and combined with a XM-L drop in , it offers me everything I could ask of a flashlight , I can highly recommend the L2P to anyone looking for a quality P60 host .
The drop in is a DIY XM-L built on a KD empty pill , http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=9208
With this driver from KD , http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=10995
And this emitter from DX , http://www.dealextreme.com/p/xml-u2-1c-320lm-7000k-led-white-light-emitter-with-16mm-base-3-7v-57008 , just a note , the one I got , not as good as the T6's from Cutter , so whether its U2 ?
Anyways , the driver can be set up several ways by connecting the stars to the neg rim on the driver , I set mine up to be 3 mode [ Hi - med - Lo ] , and just a quick note , to turn the light back on in the same mode , it has to be on about 5 seconds [ This is the driver ] . My build pulls about 2.5A and starts just under 780L and then slowly sags to 700L , now those numbers are just fine for me , but what I really like is medium , 0.80A for around 250L and low , 0.05A for about 20L , I really like Low , with a 2400mAh battery , your talking 2 full days run time .
It looks like the Grey L2P is quickly becoming my favorite flashlight , the flavor of the moment so to speak , but at least I know its going to be as good as the L2P black I have had for quite some time now .
Anodizing well done [ even ] HA-3
glass Lens

Knurling well done [ matches tailcap ]
Nice mechanical clicky
Well cut threads
Fit of head and tailcap excellent
External machining Excellent
