Its easier to build it 3 channel than doing a new Firmware mod to 2 channel on 3 channel board
Lexel, I have an issue with my L6 driver that is running NarsilM. It seems fine on ramping mode, but does weird stuff in modes sets. Maybe we can figure out the problem.
When set to mode 4 (2, 10, 40 and full) and memory turned on, I can turn it on to 40 for a few seconds, then turn off several seconds. When I turn back on the light comes on at 10, not 40.
After a few ons and offs at 10, it might turn on at 2. Pretty weird.
So then I tried mode 8 (10, 25 and 50)
Firstly I should say that I had trouble setting the menu #2 to 8 blinks. I sometimes did not get a confirmation blink so I ended up clicking about 15 times to get 8 confirmation blinks. It worked. Another time all clicks gave a confirmation blink.
So on mode 8, I only get 2 outputs, 25 and 50. It turns on at 25 and I can go to 50. At 50 I can go back to 25, but that’s it. It also has the memory issue were I turn it off at 50 and it will turn back on at 25. Sometimes I try to turn it on at 25 and I think it tries to turn on at 10 because it either does nothing when I press the button or it might do a quick blink then stay off.
In mode sets it also does not respond to triple click (batt check). It just cycles through the modes and on/off. Same for 4 clicks (lock out mode). Same for 2 clicks pause 2 clicks (strobe, etc…)
Any ideas?
Ps, Everything, including memory, works fine in ramping mode.
(1) 17mm 1S NarsilM PO=(2B)

Triple Channel NarsilM has the same Mode groups like Narsil v1.3,1.4
Thats not consistent to the NarsilM manual which only gives you the 2 Channel modegroups which are different
I have not uses Narsil in Mode grups at all, so I cant confirm your issues it might be a bug in the firmware itself
I tried my L6 which has Narsil v1.2 in mode sets in mode 8 and I no longer have the turbo output on turn on. The emitter does a faint blink, that’s all. Instead of power level 2 it’s moonlight, barely on. Memory seems okay, though.
Do you think it’s due to both my lights being 2S? The higher voltage is confusing it. (I know the LDO feeds lower, normal voltage to the MCU).
the faint blink on power on definately comes from higher voltage and the 7135s
I guess that in v1.2 there are still some bugs that got fixed later
Maybe you can flash to NarsilM and see if it helps
I tried modes 4 and 7 and the “power on” turbo worked. So it might be something with mode 8.
Tom E also said memory in mode sets was pretty glitchy and that’s why the manual didn’t recommend using memory. I guess that solves that.
Tom E also said that mode 8 was not finished in Narsil for 3 channel. So mode 8 only has 2 levels, not 3. It’s the same on both my lights (NarsilM and V1.2)
I also realized that in mode sets you have different methods of accessing batt check, lock out, etc… So that was my bad.
yeah Narsil is complicated
hope your issues may lead to improvement on NarsilM
I got in last 7 days so many 30mm LDo orders i got out of boards
3 were ordered 2 weeks ago
Payment sent for two drivers.
check PM
Just received my driver in the mail yesterday. Haven’t had a chance to install it or try it out yet, though. Thanks Lexel!
today 3 30mm driver boards arrived
but the 9 drivers ordered within a week, the last 4 have to wait for lasts weeks order delivered from Oshpark

Hey Lexel, do you have any 15mm drivers ready to go?
I’d be looking for one with Bistro-OTSM potentially.
I build one 15mm OTSM which is not easy as it has no pads for C2 and the 2 resistors
I have one 15mm board here
but for adding the parts manually with tiny wires and cutting traces it is more effort than usual
Sorry I’m a bit confused. What exactly to C2, R1 and R2 do? Seems like they’re part of the voltage divider for LVP? Can you just make the driver using internal LVP instead? Or are these components essential for the OTSM mechanism?
they are essential for OTSM, but not for Narsil
it is possible to build, but takes some more time to get the extra parts on the board
How much would that cost, shipped?
Mine arrived today, thanks!
Now for the fun job of making a copper spacer for the S42…using hand tools ![]()
Hi Lexel,
I’m new to the forum and will probably need some help.
I’m interested in a 30mm NarsilM for a Convoy L6. In the first post you have this example:
“(1) 30mm 2S NarsilM LDO 65°C, SD=6V, PO=(NO), lighted sideswitch 2.2k
Convoy L6, Thorfire S70
16.7$”
I believe this is what I want. My doubt is the “lighted sideswitch 2.2k” part. I know the L6 side switch already has the place to add leds, does this means i only need to wire it as the driver already has the 2.2k resistor?
Also would like to add a spring.
Can you give me a total with shipping?
Thank you
What Lexel does is add a smd resistor to the pad for the side switch light. If you’ve ever dealt with the super tiny SMD resistors you’ll know that they are very easy to break in half when they are only soldered on one end with a wire soldered to the other end. One small pull on the wire will snap it in half.
I suggest that you ignore the SMD resistor option and just get some bigger through hole type resistors instead. If you want to use two LEDs simultaneously on the switch for a more even light then you want to use between a 15k to 30k Ohm resistor. Put the resistor in the middle of the wire so it’s strong then put heat shrink over it then you can attach either end of the wire to the driver and the switch pad. This way you have a very strong connection that’s not going to accidentally break as you install the driver.
