SOLD/SHIPPED: Copper slug for Ultrafire C8 And Uniquefire T20!

yup, and so will tarn-x. $6 at walmart and home depot. funny thing is, it smells like vinegar and salt.

I have absolutely no issue w/ what little tarnish was on these pills, but for demonstration purposes.

received

put them in a glass, pour tarn-x on them, immediately pour tarn-x back into its bottle, rinse with water.
this took like 5 seconds. ok, maybe 9 seconds.

Some cutting fluids (especially those containing sulfur) can encourage rapid tarnishing of copper, as can some degreasers.

Without some form of protectant, one should expect copper to oxidize; pennies don't stay shiny forever.

Ahh - ok, was just looking for an explanation - was thinking a degreaser or something used in the process because I've gotten 2-3 orders in of copper discs, had them for weeks, some months, and never saw one tarnish (accept if it goes under the torch for soldering). It's not a problem, looks easy to polish up (thanx dthrckt and others!) - hoping to have time to install these beauts soon!

Still hoping VOB is considering HD 2010 pills - I got some fixing to do on a pill now which would be a waste if he'll do HD 2010 pills, because I'd be in for at least 2, maybe a couple more...

and im pretty sure pennies are a special alloy to stay shiny longer… maybe it was nickels though.
the tarnish dont bother me one bit. like wayne said, it wont stay shiny forever. anything that will protect it will just hurt the heat conduction i would think

Ok, got them pretty shiny w/vinegar, salt, and lime juice (had no lemon), but I don't care about the shine anymore, here's some pics:

Ok, these not only fit this C8, it's made for it, I mean perfect, no play'n around, nothing, perfect height for the emitter, perfect seating and height for the driver, I mean perfect... What I really, really like about these pills:

- high rim over the LED: don't worry about sitting the pill LED down, the LED doesn't stick out so won't hit anything

- the depth for the driver - for Nanjg's the depth is perfect, winds up being flush with the lip so easiest thing in the world to solder

- I eyeball'ed the dimensions with the original C8 pill and like I said, perfect. Those brass C8 pills from FastTech required some work to get them setup right

About this C8

LightMalls C8 U2 version, SS bezel (from a TMART C8), UCL lens, XM-L2 U2 1C/SinkPAD, AS5, 22 gauge teflon coated silver tinned wire, tailcap spring wired, Nyogel treated threads, 3.85A configured Nanjg, custom programmed w/6 modes: Hi/32%/6%/moonlight/intense strobe/battery check-beacon (luxdrv 0.30 - Dr Jones)

Measurements

On a fresh Samsung INR 20R: 3.91A measured:

lumens - 1258 at start, 1230 at 30 secs

throw - 47 kcd, 433 meters 49 kcd, 442 meters (loosened the pill - from pics, saw the emitter is set a little low, ok - maybe slightly less than perfect but can fix that)

Beauty.

My result at 3.76 amps on alloy star was 36,480 lux, same led (xml2 U2 1c)

So looks like around 30% gain total which is about right

Chris

Thanks for the review Tom. That 1230 lumen @ 30 seconds blows me away. Obviously the quality cell driving it to nearly 4 amps has a lot to do with that, but I personally am still very impressed.

Your camera is sure a lot better than mine too. Good pics.

Does anybody know if these fit the convoy S8?

I don't see how, the S8 is barely as wide as a C8 pill.

If you mean Convoy C8 (not S8), no - it won't fit, threads are different for one thing...

Ok, thanks, guys.

Will you be making more? If so, I am definitely in for at least 1 more. Thanks for your efforts on our behalf.

If you're looking for Convoy C8 pills, see this thread.

If you made a beefier version for the Ultrafire C12 I would happily buy a couple!

Hi joe,

I sent a batch of these pills for the C8 and T20 to E2 field gear. They are in stock and ready to ship from the USA.

The direct drive PCBs are mine as well.

I still have some copper left. I may pick up a C12 and see what I can do.

Thanks

Here is the feeler thread for C12 interest.

Hey! Save some of that copper! I still want you to rebuild the heart of my M8, will be gathering Christmas monies to have you do that come 1st of the year. Business has come to a screeching halt and money has gotten scarce lately. :frowning: Not forgetting though, and will have you do that piece as soon as I possibly can!

The M8 now has a Qlite with 16 chips, pulling 5.98A and making 2322 lumens at 30 seconds. Heat’s up pretty good too! Pretty fast! Need the copper in there, as I’ve got plans to put a better switch (currently being designed) and going back to direct drive and 12A.
