Nice review.
⦠just donāt tell my wife
I'm in :)
Awesome mod and thanx for the review Dale, the lights seems very well built for a P60 light.
Had to open this thread and see why there were so many commentsā¦
a nice flashlight, and a nice giveaway!
Lothar, itās not a P-60 light itās bit larger than the C8 which is considerably larger than the P-60 format. It has a proprietary aluminum pill similar to a P-60 except that it screws into the head and the reflector is not thread on. Much much larger reflector than a P-60 light, which has a 25.5mm outer diameter as compared to the 38mm of the F9. Side by side thereās really no comparison, and throw vs throw, againā¦no comparison. Iāll try to get a couple of head on pics comparing it to the C8 and P-60.
Iāll be baaack!
Thanks for the review and opportunity!

Thanks for the mini review.
Wow, looks like a fine light⦠could you post more picts on comparing different lightās profile?
I took a few shots of the F9 with the Convoy C8 and a couple of other lights to show reflector comparison...
left to right, a Solarforce L2P P-60 drop-in w/XP-G2, Convoy C8 w/XP-G2, SupFire F9, MAXToch SN6X-2X , the F9 reflector is only a couple mm larger than the C8, but deeper and smooth.
Side by side with the Convoy C8,
Side by side, Convoy C8 on left, SupFire F9 on right
Solarforce L2P with XP-G2 in the P-60 drop-in, making 448 OTF lumens base, SupFire F9 with XM-L2 T6 3D making 1270 OTF lumens (batt is probably down from the shots taken) mouseover.
Convoy C8 with De-Domed XP-G2 making 883 OTF lumens and pulling 4.55A from a Samsung 20R as base, SupFire F9 at 1270 lumens at 4.44A using a 20R on mouseover
MAXToch SN6X-2X on base at 904 OTF lumens, with SupFire F9 at 1270 lumens on mouseover
The MAXToch has a huge reflector, big advantage as well as utilizing 2 18650's. Without disassembling the MAXToch, the reflector appears to measure 60mm wide x 63mm deep. Thought I'd throw a ringer in, as it's designed for throw. ;)
Awesome review/mod! Beamshots are tempting.
Quality seems pretty good and I may like this more than the c8.
I just got my first C8 a couple of weeks ago, and was immediately impressed. Wondered how I could've gone so long and not "seen the light"! That said, I'm liking this F9 even more. The design plays a big part of that, but the threading fitting together smoothly is also a very nice one-up. Coming with a smooth reflector, one-up. Thicker more robust build, one-up. Premium emitter, right off the top...one-up. Nicer lanyard even..1/4 up, lol. And the anodizing is top notch, right down to the unique color. Enough one-ups to make it really work for me. Glad I took the plunge, even glad I got 2 so one can be shared! :)
Is that 3 tiered beam profile very common? I like the hot spot being defined in this one, the aura around it, and the softer large spill. 3 levels, kind of neat for a change.
The led might not be focused properly in the reflector so that may be why the beam profile is like that.
great review as always! Thanks!!
Great review and I am in! thanks for the giveaway!
WOW !
Thanks so much for the giveaway !
I will absolutely cherish this light .
All of the lights I have that have been made or customized by members of BLF are not only the best lights I own , but I have a particularly fond sentiment for them . They represent a lot of time , thought , and craftsmanship .
DBCstm , I am honored to own one of your custom lights .
AWESOME !
Have fun with the flashlight Jack and thank you DBCstm for the nice give-away thread and the many pics :)
Congrats Jack! Thanks DBCstm for the review.
