Texas_Ace MT09R Modding thread, 20k+ lumens, 80CRI, can start fires? Yes please.

I used to build and tune a lot of cars, never personally owned one as it was before they were 25 years old and I could not afford the gray market prices but I have always admired them. I want one some day, although the magic has lessoned now since everyone knows what they are lol.

Still, a 6 cylinder turbo AWD car, yes please. I also like the 3000gt for that reason, although it is a heavy beast.

Right now I have an MR2 sitting in the driveway without an engine and my very first car actually, a 2000 4runner that used to be supercharged. I pulled the supercharger off to go turbo but then never had the money to finish the build.

It still has the mods for the supercharger/turbo so it gets like 15mpg. I keep looking for a cheap honda or something I can use for basic commuting that would get better mileage but I never have the money when I find one and never find one when I have the money lol.

Ok, got number 2 for the day done. This was a driver swap for Saypat on his MT03, added a washer to the tailcap to make the PCB spin easier and reflashed the driver witht he latest firmware.

Still using the stock LED’s, They look to be NW but not sure.

After the driver swap it is now doing 17k lumens (17.5k with my old rating system).

The mail lady came today so this light will ship out tomorrow.

Now to bypass and LED swap the other 4 lights I have here.

Is the stock LED XHP70 or 70.2? That is still pretty damn good just with Driver swap and nothing else!

It is the 70.2 version.

The Skylight R33/R34 used to be my dream car too but that was like 20 years ago. Now modern day cars are so much more powerful and efficient, I would just get a GTR if I can afford it. But then I kind of grown out of cars and into flashlights now

To all that have the flashlight can you please put pictures of the beamshot and comparing it to other flashlights?
Thanks

Yes, my light has NW emitters, 70.2 version. Previously it did 12298 lumens as tested by Terry. TA also did a spring bypass for me on the driver spring. I suppose when I receive this light, my Q8, and my Meteor M43 will go by the wayside….

so thankful to Texas_Ace

(may this addition complete my flashlight collection!)

Yeah, they’re pretty amazing huh. :+1:

All these MT03 mods… no beam shots
Do I really need to wait until I got mine so I can see it myself? lol!

not to hijack the thread but ……. here is a great video of the new ZR1 Corvette (insane) https://youtu.be/H0oZlLKi1R0

0-60 in 2.8

the driver says it is quicker than your mind can even process

back to the lights now….

Tesla Roadster will do 0-60 in 1.9s. Seems to defy physics

I keep shipping them out before I have a chance to do any beam shots, plus I don’t really want to take a customer light out into the “wild” and risk dropping it. I am supposed to get one before long and will try to get some beamshots with it when I do the GT beamshots.

I like the GTR as well, a little overdone at this point but still as potent as ever.

I like the Audi R8, not quite as overdone and a bit more nimble. plus V10 > V6

I would not mind an RS7 down the road once they depreciate to an affordable level as well.

I used to watch Matt way back in Garage419 days. Good to see he is still going.

That ZR1 looks intense. And it also means that the next Vette should be around the corner, they usually release the ZR1 as a final model before the next gen. I am hoping for a mid-engined vette next time with turbos.

Yes, but it can only do this off of a fresh battery charge on a cool day, lol.
After one or two starts, it steps down to 50%…

I saw a Skyline grey market here in Houston about a year ago going down the freeway at night. I spotted that distinctive tail light pattern and said “no way”. I sped up through traffic and “yes way”. Right hand drive just cruising down the road. Lol

The Skyline GT non R version is pretty sweet as well. Rwd, inline 6, single turbo, 2 door, resembles the R model, but way, way cheaper. There was one on a recent episode of Top Gear. Matt LeBlanc goes to a Japanese auto auction and thinks he bought a gtr for super cheap, but it’s a gt. Still a great car.

I know it’s super impractical, but I want a right hand drive car. :+1:

I stopped watching top gear after Clarkson left. I tried one episode and the cringe level was too high for me. The grand tour is good. In fact I think the second season is done now, I always wait till a season is over before watching a show, I don’t like waiting a week between episodes lol.

I love AWD myself, so I don’t think I could live with having a car capable of AWD but only having 2WD. I have had enough 2WD cars and once you have some real power they are a handful even with monster drag radials to help.

Ummm sorry I kinda hijack the post by mentioning underrated cars and as the example to flashlights… and we are talking about cars now lol!

LOL, I don’t mind threads going off topic as long as everyone is having a good time and it doesn’t get out of hand. Some of the best threads I can remember were ones that went WAY off topic.

OK, Here is more affordable & accurate Tint comparison. TA MT09R XHP70.2 4000k 80CRI vs. modded S41 219c 4000k vs. Pineapple Mini V2.
Camera WB set 5000k, No ambient lighting.
I have no complain with XHP70.2 4000k 80CRI’s hot spot, but I don’t like green/yellow hue in the spill. Don’t give me wrong, I like XHP70.2 4000k 80CRI, but Nichia 219c 4000k beam just looks much “cleaner” to my eye.
Tint is very subjective, everyone have different opinion. If you like XHP70.2 4000k 80CRI better, nothing wrong with that!
