You can identify the emitter by looking at it. The 70.2 looks like it has a yellow dome and no lines between the dies. The 70 looks like a clear dome and you can easily see the cross shape lines between the dies.
Here is the 70.2.
Here is the 70.
The TN40 lights are supposed to be throwers like the MT09R, but with a 4mm2 die. Skylumen makes a version with the slightly bigger 5.5mm2 die xhp35-HI. Sticking the big 24mm2 xhp70 in makes the hot spot much larger so you lose a lot of throw. It should still be a good light as long as it uses the 70.2 and has good power going to them.
If it’s using the xhp70, then your probably getting a donut shaped hot spot. Xhp70 and SMO reflectors don’t play well together.
Here is my L6 with SMO reflector and xhp70. Two pictures with different exposures.
See the dark center of the hot spot? This is why most lights using the xhp70 used OP reflectors. It’s blends the light better to give a more uniform hot spot.
It’s finally night time and it’s raining, but that doesn’t stop me from trying out this MT03.
Let me tell you guys this first… I would feel very safe walking with this at night…
Man Wothout Shadow did a good video comparison of few lights but I’m just going to talk about MT03
This is MT03 TA driver with P2 XHP70.2- 5700k
It just blast everything in front of me like a birdshot shotgun.
It really does feel like morning but with dark sky….
image 2 and the last image isn’t an exaggeration… it does lit up this well, in fact the real image we see with our eyes is even more stunning. If you like flood and see everything near by and decent distance, MT03 is a real good light to have…

Light hitting the white poll on the side and hurts my eyes
Yes the MT03 is a monster flood light…. And I am very happy with it.
Don’t think I’ll be buying anymore lights until the next big boy come out… 50k lumens or nothing.
And after testing, MF01 would still reach farther but I don’t search or hunt so I would pick the flood light over others. And MT03 does the job exactly!
Hmmm now I have a question on how useful is this light as a self defense if it’s the only item you have on hand…
I’ve seen people asking if their 500 or 1000 lumen would buy them time or not when it comes to dealing with aggressive dogs… the answer was a no.
Now how about a 22k lumens that can start a fire within seconds? Do you guys think it’s going to work? I know 22k on human they won’t know which planet they’re on but just curious about how animals such as dogs would react.
PS. Don’t try that and test on your dogs… just give me thoughts lol
You sure it wasn’t the pillowcase that it didn’t like? Lol
Jk… well, nice to know that dogs doesn’t like it.
I just asked a friend how would he use the light to protect himself from wild animal
he said:“ in extreme case such as a big cat or bear stalking you, is to take off your shirt and set your clothes on fire with flashlight and throw it at them…”
I think he won…
