The Bort thread šŸ”¦

Ah OK, that explains it. I’ll get those updated soon if you don’t think you’ll be refactoring the palletes any time soon. It takes a bit more effort there to diff it with my little tweaks, but it’s not a big deal either way.

2 Thanks

OK, I just applied the modified color palletes. @ToyKeeper and @raccoon do the user cards look correct now?

2 Thanks

Yes. I no longer see shading appear and disappear when I toggle my overrides.

One of the easiest places to see it is with TARTARA’s user card in dark mode, since he had a mostly-white background where the white text was unreadable before.

Looks great! :+1:

Been enjoying these clips lately, cooking with Caucasians:
There are 12 vids at the link:

@sb56637 When i posted the link straight it completely froze Firefox, that has not happened to me in many years.
It also showed one one vid in the preview, while there are 12 at the link (possibly the reason it locked?)

Hmm I guess that’s not ideal how it shows only the first video.

As for Firefox locking up, sounds like a random event. Also using Firefox here (version 102 ESR on Linux) and it seemed to behave fine.

When i saw your post it froze Firefox again.
I restarted Firefox and it works ok again, just first vid of course which is sub-optimal.

Weird.

It looks like Imgur image albums properly indicate that it’s an album so that viewers can click on it and access the whole album on Imgur.

I didn’t even know that Imgur allowed video hosting, so that’s probably why Discourse doesn’t yet handle video albums very well.

18650s and 21700s are hard to get in Canada so i am considering an order from Illumn. The shipping is expensive and the exchange rate is nasty (about 1.4USD to CAD) so i am undecided how to go with this to keep costs reasonable but also futureproof since it will probably be another 5 years before another order.

My ideal order:
Xtar Moon RC2 $7.99 each x 4 = $31.96
21700 LG INR21700M50LT 5000mAh $9.49 each x 4 = $37.96
18650 Sanyo NCR18650GA 3500mAh $6.99 each x 4 = $27.96
Shipping = $36.38
Total 134.26 x 1.4 = $187.96 :sob:

What i might end up doing:
Xtar Moon RC2 $7.99 each x 2 = $15.98
21700 LG INR21700M50LT 5000mAh $9.49 each x 4 = $37.96
18650 Sanyo NCR18650GA 3500mAh $6.99 each x 2 = $13.98
Shipping = $24.57
Total 92.49 x 1.4 = $129.49 :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Import duty/Taxes?

Technically they are supposed to charge on anything over $20 but they rarely do.
But if i get the larger order it is more likely they will.

Thanks, I was curious. In the 70’s I paid many $$ to Canadian customs for car parts I imported. They always charged on those. Best of good fortune.

Last time i ordered from Illumn (2017) it was a $60 order but got no customs taxes.
They were going to raise the limit to $400(?) in the Harper years iirc but the government never got it done.

Did you try with 18650BatteryStore.com ? Last time I ordered from them it was a bit cheaper than Illumn. Still super expensive to buy lithium in Canada. I paid my P45b ~24 CAD each if I consider shipping fees and exchange rates…

1 Thank

Damn, they have some $1 batteries!
I am very specific in what batteries i want, and those are not the ones on clearance but for that price its so hard to say no!

I did go to a local vape shop (legal here) and they don’t sell lithium batteries. Will have to try another one.

As far as I remember, you are in Ontario. You can now try https://www.affordableebikes.ca/

They just started to sell some 18650/21700 (P45B!). They were pushed a bit by some members of our community trying to convince them we have some interested people around here. They had them since a bit, but now you can see them online also. If you are not too far from the store. Ask them the Ontario address.

2 Thanks

I shall have to call them. Its not exactly nearby but its doable.

I usually get cells from the already mentioned 18650BatteryStore.com, though I’m in the U.S. and not Canada, so shipping is reasonable and I don’t have to worry about exchange rates.
That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the U.S. credit rating gets downgraded like in 2011, and the U.S. dollar slips as a result.
If that happens, I think buying stuff from the U.S. (if you’re outside the U.S.) becomes more affordable. :+1:
