The longest BB gun shot in the world--Airgun Experiences Thread.

I shot a pellet into that board and then used the pellet as my aiming point just to let you know how I shot that 5 shot group. That is the most accurate pellet gun I have owned. And they make some that cost a lot more money that will beat that.

Hey gords,
What do you reckon on an oxbow spring in a meteor 22, any idea of the possible MV ??

Sounds good tommy!, 917fps is awesome
Unfortunately, our stupid UK laws limit us to 12 ft ibs.

Hey megabeam, in theory, if its a spring for a .22, it should keep you legal, they don’t always though…. And you can’t test with your regular light weight flat flying pellets either, you need to use magnums, as heavy as possible as that’s what the police use. :expressionless:

Personally, I like the webley venom tuning kits, but you’ll probably struggle to find one these days. :frowning:

I do know that webley mainsprings are just about the best you can get, the last test I saw, a Vulcan was tested for muzzle energy, then cocked and left unloaded for a year. It was then discharged, retested and had lost no appreciable muzzle energy.

There’s a good chance webley tuning does a mainspring for the bsa as its a popular choice.

I’m passing on information gleaned from the UK police, and I have known rifles that whilst legal on normal lighter pellets go over the legal limit on the heavy magnum pellets. If that happens, your convicted of a fire arm offense, even if your normal set up tests legal. A general recommendation is to aim for 11.5ftlb in use, as magnums can push you over 12ftlb.

There’s little point arguing about it, but that has been my experience, dealing with a rifle club and greater Manchester police’s recommendations.

This is my Air Arms EV2 Field Target competition rifle. The finish was done by WICKED COATINGS in Dorset UK
Hope you guys like it.

Now that is a thing of beauty 8)

There’s a lot British pre-charge manufacturer’s could teach other companies about precision instruments.

I told you she was nice

Oh yes, as you can see, I’m a hunter over a target shooter, hence the workman like tools, the falcon is the only target rifle, although its a pretty fine target rifle at that.

The ev2 is whole different ball game though, what do you shoot? Field target?

Totally FT now Gords,I used to do a bit of hunting with my AA s410 but found in the end I couldn’t warrant keeping the gun as I wanted to focus on my comps. It was a sad day when she went,it was more accurate than my EV…!!

Just placed the order for the x5 and just ordered some batteries, not a nice as the one’s I got the other day but they will do I’m sure. 3000mah protected £6.00ish for 2.

Both lights are coming from DinoDirect, not sure if thats a good thing or not, read some very good but some very bad reviews. Fingers crossed it will be ok,knowing my luck something is bound to go wrong though,it always does.

It should be ok, their trying hard to tidy up their act. I personally won’t order from them, but give it a go, you won’t know till you try them and the forum backing helps, be sure to report when it lands.

How’s the snow down there? We’ve got a pretty good snow storm settled now. It’s crap for playing with lights, I’ve had to settle for checking the kids on moonlight to get a fix :frowning:

Not had any snow in Paignton, well maybe about 10 flakes.Just wet and windy, one day freezing cold, the next mild and wet and the next warm and sunny… it doesn’t know what month it want to be.

I’m itching to go playing in the four wheel drive……ten beers says no though :frowning:

I am not very experienced with shooting but I hear that the crosman 2240 is one of the most stable long reach guns. What your experiences? I am seriously thinking to buy one since stability in shooting would help with my aim.

I have one. It’s a great little gun. Hits with enough energy to humanely take rabbits. Easy to shoot good groups. Apparently is a great platform for modding, too. It has pretty good ‘gas mileage’ (one CO2 powerlet provides between 30-40 good, consistent shots depending on ambient temperature). The trigger is not a Rekord trigger but it is adequate for good shooting.

In all, a uniquely satisfiying plinker that can be used to take small quarry and pests in the form it comes from the factory.

The 2240 is one of the better/best long-range air pistols, especially for the dollar. If that’s where your interests lie, its slightly bigger siblings (the 2250/2250XT) are small carbines based on the same powerplant. Their longer barrels yield better velocity with identical gas consumpion. If you still go with the 2240, I believe Crosman sells a shoulder stock that replaces the 2240’s stock grips.

(Edit: I use it to plink at 1-gallon milk jugs from the top of my driveway down to the bridge. It’s 135 yards but 4 to 6 hits out of 10 shots is not out of the question. The sights are a little blocky, but the front blade appears to sit perfectly in between the square rear notch-again, not perfect, but certainly adequate.)

Blog | Pyramyd AIR is a great resource for all things airgun.

More of an airsofter (6mm plastic BBs). I use to own a sniper rifle (TM vsr-10) upgraded to about 450 fps but these lighter 6mm plastic pellets make it necessary to use higher FPS to reach out. Also winds kill any accuracy due to light BBs.

This is not my vid but here is someone’s 300 feet test:

It’s hard to see much but he has other vids. His rifle was highly upgraded though, probably 600 FPS+

EDIT:
Not mine but…here is a vid of a TM hicapa (airsoft pistol). It is likely firing around 300 fps.

I have the same air rifle…bought it refurbed about 2-3 years ago and it is still going strong. That stinks that yours went out. Were you able to fix it or determine what went wrong?

MEGABEAM….Who ever told you that precharge air rifles are totally dead and recoiless is very much mistaken.I can assure you that every precharge rifle has to recoil to some degree, that’s physics in action right there.Ever heard the term…every action has an equal and OPPOSITE reaction. You cant expect to propel something forward without there being an equal force applied in the opposite direct.Granted it might not be much but never the less it is there.
